"Isn't it appropriate that the month of the tax begins with April Fools Day and ends with cries of 'May Day? " (Unknown)

Now that I've settled with Uncle Sam and have that monkey off my back, will treat myself to some good reading. Did finish a hard to put down murder mystery with a phenomenal ending. Check out THE KIND WORTH KILLING:a novel by Peter Swenson.

Currently am fully engrossed in Allen Eskens's THE LIFE WE BURY. Soo nice having some time to get back to relaxing with my stories.

What are you reading now?

Just finished Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult, a very good read, I thought. I'll give it 4 stars.

I'm on the last 100 or so pages and find myself dreaming of elephants.  The characters are typical Picoult, with  problems driving them to lunacy, with one character already in the looney bin.  Very informational and gripping.  I have "The Escape" by Baldacci next.  I've always enjoyed his books.

Serial killer, kidnap victims, war atrocities, and a  leisurely ocean voyage in a time long past

Mixing stories this month, as I started with a good Tami Hoag, "The Ninth Girl"  http://www.amazon.com/The-9th-Girl-Tami-Hoag/dp/0525952977 then went on to Brian Haig, "The Night Crew" http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbook... and Lisa Gardner's "Touch and Go" http://www.amazon.com/Touch-Go-Lisa-Gardner/dp/0451465849/ref=sr_1_... After all that blood and gore, I am taking a nice cruise across the Atlantic with a 1920s crossing on a new cruise ship's maiden voyage, "Crossing on the Paris."  Good stuff!!!

After about three months I am back into Louise Penny's Inspector Gamache series. I've read about 80 pages of Bury Your Dead. No decline in quality so far and don't expect there to be.

For anyone interested in Louise Penny - she is featuring every two weeks - the places in her books.

IPAD back in business...all healed! Operator error? Need to test out my charging station...maybe plug or bar is messed up.

WORLD GONE BY~ Dennis Lahane. Plain Dealer raved about this book! So back we go to TAMPA, Florida! I am not qualified to critique this book. Engrossing, adult themes, violent (main character is "hit man" for MOB) I'm conflicted about it. Would say it is a "Guy Book" and yet...it touches emotions for females, too?

Would love to hear what you think.

SEASON OF FEAR~ Brian Freeman; Back to Florida again...but more central state. Now, IMHO Brian is an "acquired taste" ...but I am totally engrossed in the mystery he is unveiling.

Have a couple more on the desk to read. But I will be searching for stuff all weekend!~mellow

I just finished The Butcher's Boy by Thomas Perry which is also about a "hit man" for the Mob.  It was written in 1982 & is the first of several featuring this fellow. It is a good story but feels dated since they have to look for pay phones and computers are only at the main office... but all-in-all not a bad read.

I am just starting The Girl In The Woods by Gregg Olsen.  I chose this one off the library stack because it is a small paperback and I will be holding it up over a small dog (who sits on my lap) in the car tomorrow as we travel up north to the cottage for a couple of weeks...  not easy to do with a big hard copy...

SLOPOK...glad you took a chance on LEAVING TIME!! I would never have considered that book and can't thank members enough who were willing to suggest, critique and make it an important read.

WILD, the movie. Going to watch it tonight. LOVED the book! Almost makes me want to attempt a walk on a major wilderness trail!!! I said ALMOST! Lol
Yesterday picked up THE NIGHTINGALE by Kristin Hannah. Am ready for a good WWII story. Brought it to hospital with me. Hubby's surgery was switched from Fri. to Mon. He suddenly developed second degree heart block at gym Weds. and will have a pacemaker implanted. He's quite comfortable and having good care at our local Heart Hospital.

Best wishes for your husband to have a speedy and uncomplicated recovery.  Hope you can get some rest and maybe even a lot of good reading during this time.

Positive thoughts for your husband and yourself.May the surgery go well and a speedy recovery!

Adding your DH to my prayer list for a speedy recovery... Take some books along to the hospital where long waits go faster when your nose is in a good book...  :)
