A new study says reading helps you live longer

Guess I'll live forever then. Between research for my writing (and sometimes just for pleasure!) and editing, reading is an every day thing and has been for a long time! LOL!
I'm with you, Dat! Been reading since a munchkin. Read at least 3 hours every night. I do check the obits in the newspaper every morning to see who lived!
Rapa, did you happen to see Carl Reiner's documentary, If You're Not in the Obits, Eat Breakfast? He gathered a group of nonagenarians (I think that means people over 90) to discuss the rewards of living a long life. The cast included Tony Bennett, Mel Brooks, Kirk Douglas, Fyvush Finkel (if you don't recognize the name, I know you would recognize his face!), Norman Lear, Dick Van Dyke, and Betty White.
BY the way, the title came from his habit of reading the obits every morning; a habit I also have.
No, I missed that.. Drat!!!! Will Goggle it. Obits in our paper usually only appear for one day. If I miss it most likely would miss visitation.
BTW, saw your pic on The March! Lookin' good!
of course it does.........it lets your imagination soar, you visit new places, meet new people. It engages your brain and motivates dreaming
I am going to include audio books, which help keep me alert when I have to drive longer distances. Out here on the prairie the scenery can get boring and lull one into dullness!
The reader of the audiobook is extremely important. It is another dimension to the work itself. Most professional readers are wonderful to listen to. I have come across some audiobooks where the reader ruined it (for me at least)
