Very interesting article; thanks for posting. The Stockholm library was my favorite; I prefer libraries that are "all about the books"; any fancy architecture, round bookcases, etc. is wasted on me because when I'm around books I don't notice anything else, all I see are the books; as long as the light is good (and doesn't have to be natural from lots of windows either, fluorescent even is fine) & there are plenty of handy footstools, I'm good.
I think one of the BEST libraries I've ever been in is MY city of Pittsburgh, PA. My dad used to take us there on Sundays after church and he would say, "Inside these walls, you can learn about ANYTHING that interests you!" Although I visited here a couple times a year after I left home, I recently moved BACK here after being away 26 years or so and when I went there, it was very odd to see that very little had changed in this massive, very old library. Well....one significant thing that DID change was instead of HAVING to walk up these massive marble staircases to the other 4 (or more?) floors, they NOW had elevators. The "OTHER" side of the library is the "Museum of Natural History which I think is one of the better "Dinosaur museums" I've been in.
