TBD

TBD on Ning

I just had four days to run away before I'm back in class for the summer. I went on a 'fly by the seat of my pants' trip to see a couple of cool friends in Tennessee and Kentucky. My nine year old daughter and I camped in a tiny tent and cooked food over a wood fire. We hiked trails and saw the local sites in big cities and small towns.

If you had four days to drive - not fly - where would you go, and what would you do?

I'll go to the Cape with you! When are you coming?
"Q"!!!!! It would be gobs of fun to rent a house for a bit on the 'cape'!!! If I win the lottery I will foot the bill and invite everyone!
I've never been to Meramec Caverns. Driven by them 'bout a dozen times, but never stopped.

I could spend a day or two camping in the Shawnee National Forest.

A tour of all of Frank Lloyd Wright's buildings in the Chicago area, followed by a safari through the independent record stores, dinner at Hot Dougs, spend an evening at the Shedd and the Field Museum, then a night at a certain little-known underground dive bar in a blighted vacant industrial area that doesn't even open until 1:00 a.m., then breakfast at a North Woods lodge kinda place on Clark that serves REAL Canadian bacon and the best smoked salmon I've ever had, then catch 40 winks before a driving away, taking a meandering detour to Arthur to stock up on home-made preserves and other goodies from the Amish stores, then a further detour to Mother Jones' grave in Mt. Olive for a commemorative shot of Irish whiskey and a recharge of the ol' agitator pain-in-the-ass batteries, and then maybe home. Might still have a day left to recover.
Just drive around Texas have not seen all of it yet.
