TBD

TBD on Ning

So here we are looking around, taking a peek... hanging out.

On some thread a bit ago, some one said how annoying the FB was with all the trivial updating goings on.

Personally, I don't think my daily updating is all that interesting but some times I really feel the need to share.  My kitties don't give a whit and the bird...well, he lives in his own world.  His updates would mostly involve "lived another day"..."got some of that shredded stuff again (cheese)"  etc.

Mostly, I have you fine folks to droll on about my meager existence and occasional moments of wonderful.

So, here you go...Keep it brief...mundane with a bit of intrigue.

Dick Clark passed away this morning.

Enough said.

Sad to hear it.

He was a big part of my childhood.

:-(

Tomorrow I plan to check off another item on my bucket list. I'm going to go to Weeki Wachee Springs State Park and frolic with the mermaids. Well, maybe there won't be any frolicing, but I'm going anyway. I've been visiting Florida since 1956. Even lived here for a year once and I've never been to Weeki Wachee. So tomorrow I hope to become one of the many millions who have watched the mermaids swim their tails off.

And you didn't invite me to go???? I guess I'll be all Weeki and no Wachee.

Shucks, I figured you had been there many times. Sorry.

I did go today, I did. Not many people there. Guess we are in between the seasons. Or since it isn't near the Interstate it doesn't get the "traveling through" business. Or since the State of Florida now owns it,  it isn't advertised as much as it used to be.

Anyway, the Mermaid show is worth seeing. I found it pretty interesting. They tell the history of the place on tv screens and then the mermaids put on the show. I was impressed. One very interesting thing is the turtles swiming around the girls. the girls ignore them most of the time, but once in a while they have to push them away. The turtles seem facinated by the girls waving hair. The place was originated in 1947 by a Navy Frogman. Navy Frogmen were the forerunners of the Navy Seals. They came into existance during WW II. There was even a movie about them. I remember seeing it in the early fifties and wanting to run right down to the recruter and sign up.But, I was only about 14 at the time.

The other interesting little fact is that the Mayor of Weeki Wachee was formerly one of the mermaids.

OK, another Bucket List item Checked off. Now on to the Airboat Ride. Tee, want to go?

Google "Weeki Wachee Springs"
