When I get really depressed there are a couple of films that I can depend on to make me laugh no matter what! One of them is Galaxy Quest - I love its upbeat message and can do attitude as well as its gentle mockery of geekiness and fandom! What movie can you rely on to make you feel better when you need a lift?

WS, You said there were a couple that make you laugh every time. What is the other one?
When it comes to ranking Movies, The only catagory where I can pick a clear winner is Depressing.
Another one that always makes me laugh (and is a very bad movie) is The In-Laws (the original with Peter Falk and Alan Arkin). I also find perverse pleasure in Something to Talk About. I just love the poisoning. Which reminds me that both Arsenic and Old Lace and Harvey also still crack me up!
I don't think I've ever seen Something to Talk About. I'll have see if I can find it. Harvey, of course. But I probably won't bring a copy of it next time I see Pru.
Your new Avatar is great.
Well, I think Pru would be okay Harvey is after all a Pooka and not a rabbit. I wonder if she would see him.

Some similarities with some of ya'll...Blazing Saddles..Young Frankenstein always make me laugh. A newer one that does the same for me is Talledega Nights, The Story of Ricky Bobby..laugh out loud cracks me up. I've seen it many times.

Dr. Strangelove comes to mind.

A some feel good movies for me...Matilda....ET..... A Christmas Story

That is quite a list, Blithe. You have eclectic taste!

In the old movies, I'd pick The Ghost Breakers with Bob Hope, Paulette Goddard, and Anthony Quinn because it's still funny.

When I first saw Overboard, I thought it was great for a pick-me-up movie.  Of course it's been overshown on TV, but it's still nice.

I love that old Bob Hope movie. I saw it on TV when I was a kid and it seemed scary to me then, but of course it isn't! It's just crazy silly!

Got to be

1. It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World (is that enough Mad's?)

2. Texas cross the river (to the rear harrrrrrrrr)

3. Dr. DoLittle (the first one)

His Girl Friday~ Cary Grant Rosalind Russell~Fast paced and witty.

Harvey~ Jimmy Stewart.~ Always renews my faith in mankind.

Harvey's great! and ya gotta love Rosalind Russell. We were watching Auntie Mame not too long ago - it is very funny. Life is a banquet and some poor bastards are starving to death! (or something like that!)

Nobody`s mentioned the best film of all time -"Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" with Rosalind Russell and some dumb blonde Marilyn Monroe, who i`ve never heard of before LOL
