DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen released the following statement, congratulating Congressman-elect Ted Deutch, who won the special election in Florida’s 19th Congressional District:
"Congratulations to Congressman-elect Ted Deutch on his victory today.
"Congressman-elect Deutch is a bipartisan leader with a strong commitment to ensuring the economic security of South Floridians. With his support for health insurance reform and his commitment to creating jobs, protecting Social Security, and ensuring security and peace for Israel, Congressman-elect Deutch will be a great asset to our Democratic Caucus.
"I look forward to welcoming Congressman-elect Ted Deutch to Congress and working with him to keep South Florida on the road to a lasting economic recovery."
Florida's 19th Congressional District was left vacant when former Congressman Robert Wexler resigned his seat to become President of the S. Daniel Abraham Center for Middle East Peace.
