We have spent the last 3 weekends talking about the NFL season thus far--and lookig forward to some more great weekends ahead. But folks--it is October--and there is another sports that takes the grand stand during the month of October--and that of course is baseball. There is only one last weekend of official ball--then IT IS PLAYOFF TIME!!!
As of right now--here are the teams that are in the first round of the playoffs--
For the American League
East
Divisional Champs- New York Yankees--(Of course!)
Wild card spot-Boston Red Sox--(Here we go again!)
Central
This final weekend will decide that division. The battle is between the Detroit Tigers and the Minnisota Twins. As of right now, Detroit leads Minnisota by just 3 games. So Detroit only have to win 2 games to get division, and Minnisota to get wild card, (Which is what most in the know are predicting will happen). Detroit will be playing Chicago White Sox this weekend, and Minnisota is playing (heads up UBU!!) Kansas City Royals. Detroit have won their last two games, and Minnisota lost their last two games! (Oh...I forgot to mention that Detroit and Minnisota are actually in a series right now, hence the last two games record between the two teams. They have one last game to play together today! That should be interesting!!)
West
Divisional Champs--Los Angelos Angels
The wild card spot is still being fought for! It is between The Texas Rangers, and the Seattle Mariners. Texas is currently leading seattle by four games. Texas really should have had it by now..but they lost their last 3 games, (4 and 6 over their last 10 games). It might still not be settle at the end of the day, because Texas plays LAA for one more game, while Seattle plays Oakland! Then after that--guess which two teams are playing each other this weekend?? Uhmmm.....Yep!
National League
East--Phillidelphia Phillies did it again!!! Their 3rd year in a row!! Impressive
The wild card is not decided. It is a tight race between The Atlanta Braves and The Florida Marlins. At this point Atlanta has a 1 and 1/2 game lead. Atlanta will play Washington Natinal today, while Florida has an off day. So if Atlanta loses--Florida can at least pick up a half game. Being taht Atlanta is playing Washington, that scenerio is doubtful! Now here is the kicker of this whole situation--The Atlanta/Washington game of today is the first of a 4 game series between the two teams. Florida got a 3 games series starting Friday...against Phillidelphia!!! Ok--How sick is that?
Central
Divisional Champs--St. Louis Cardinals!!
Wild Cards--Holy Cow!! The Chicago Cubs of all teams actually have a major chance of beating out the Milwaukee brewers for this spot!! Chicago Cubs?? Sneaking into the playoffs???? Milwaukee won their game today, so it havent happened yet, but, Chicago does have a 4 game lead over Milwaukee as of right now. Milwaukee plays another game against Colorodo today, while Cubs have a game against Pittsburgh Pirates. For the weekend Milwaukee plays The St. Louis Cardinals, (Uh oh!), and Chicago Cubs plays Arizona Diamondbacks!
West--
Divisional champs--Los Angelos Dodgers--(No big surprise there!!
Wild card-- It haven't been made official yet, how ever it is between the Colorodo Rockies and the San Franciso Giants. Currently The Rockies got a 5 game lead, with both teams having 4 games left. Now I ask you, if Colorodo has a 6 game lead, and there is only 4 games left for both team...why haven't it been made official yet?? I seriously think it is safe to say...Colorodo Rockies has the wild card spot!!!
Ok--so there u go!! i laid it all out for u!!! Now who do u like for the World Series?? I would like to see another Yankees/Dodgers series...which haven't happened in over 2 decades!!
