TBD

TBD on Ning

I saw on NBC last night how there was an allusion to some unspecified and unsubstantiated fear that the President was going to steal the children's minds.

So of course I went a-ha. Then I sent a letter to one of my senators requesting a Congressional hearing, on the topic of behavioral research involving neural linguistics, conducted by universities in public. My expectation is that if all of the facts come out it will be shown that this body of research is little more than an outgrowth of MK-ULTRA; that it has a variety of practical uses, none of which are really very useful or in the public interest.

What? You don't immediately get the connection between the public's unspecified and unsubstantiated fear, behavioral research involving neural linguistics conducted in public, and MK-ULTRA? That's alright, don't worry. Just send the letter.

I think it should be interesting to see which politicians from either side of the aisle oppose public examination of the details of this nonsense. It might even go some way toward bridging the divide between parties.

So I dunno. What do you think? Are you willing to send a letter to your Congressional Rep requesting hearings on the issue?

Maybe then the butterflies can go free . . .

Well, don't give up. It all has to come out sometime. In the meantime, how about watching the movie The Game with Michael Douglas. When it's over, be very grateful no one has ever asked you to play.

Let me repeat that: be very grateful no one has ever asked you to play.

It's real enough, and somewhat addicting. What is strange is that it does kill people, and yet no one is talking, not really, not in any concrete kind of way that would lead to accountability of any kind. When it is spoken of it is usually by means of allegory. That just tends to confuse people, especially when the symbolic references aren't universally understood.
I finally read today what the proposed topic was. Staying in school. Scandalous.
It is, isn't it?
I haven't had a chance nto read it but thought I'd link it.

Thanks Bull. You're always so resourceful.
Ms Farquar
I am sure your congressman looks as forward to hearing from you as we do.r
From the speech:

That’s why today, I’m calling on each of you to set your own goals for your education – and to do everything you can to meet them. Your goal can be something as simple as doing all your homework, paying attention in class, or spending time each day reading a book. Maybe you’ll decide to get involved in an extracurricular activity, or volunteer in your community. Maybe you’ll decide to stand up for kids who are being teased or bullied because of who they are or how they look, because you believe, like I do, that all kids deserve a safe environment to study and learn. Maybe you’ll decide to take better care of yourself so you can be more ready to learn. And along those lines, I hope you’ll all wash your hands a lot, and stay home from school when you don’t feel well, so we can keep people from getting the flu this fall and winter.

Whatever you resolve to do, I want you to commit to it. I want you to really work at it.

Gosh, I can see why the repelicans are so upset . . .
I have a daughter who is going to hear this speech tomorrow. She also knows kids who don't have parental support in their education, because we are mentors for these kids. I think she'll get it. Maybe I should have her talk to some of the parents.
