Today, in Musical History, August 7th, 1967: After two albums as leader of the Mothers of Invention, Frank Zappa releases his first solo album, "Lumpy Gravy" - although he doesn't actually play a note on the album, instead conducting an orchestra through compositions that he wrote - in order to get around a contractual issue with Verve and MGM Records.

MGM sues him anyway. Zappa effectively "won", as the out-of-court settlements allowed him ownership and control of his original recordings.

After 2 years of therapy, the mountain is declared fit again.
