When you were a child growing up, what did you want to be when you were grown?

I wanted to be a teacher.  When my son was 4 he was fascinated by the garbage trucks and wanted to be a garbage man when he grew up.  He did become a truck driver for a period of his life but mostly worked in the circuit board field.

A Dance Instructor.

I don't remember ever being gung ho on any occupation in particular. If anyone asked, my answer often was  "I want to be happy". Not  very ambitious. Since science was my very favorite school subject, I presumed I would end up in that field,  but other than a few years teaching, it never happened. My granddaughter (age 4) now wants to be a doctor to save the world from covid. Last year she wanted to be a pineapple.

I wanted to be an elementary school teacher since I was at least in 3rd grade. I almost gave up when I had to quit college to work and save up money to go back, but I made it through. I enjoyed teaching the children. I did not enjoy the extra paperwork required by the school/state and some of the requirements that seemed a little useless to me. But, all in all, it was worthwhile. I learned a lot from the children I taught.

I wanted to be a nurse...and so I did. Worked in various fields as a nurse for 30 years, but sure glad I'm done with it. My daughter followed in my footsteps, and now I worry about her all the time. She has a master's in history and could be teaching, but that's not much safer these days.

When I was little I wanted to be a nurse, but when I realized I couldn't stand the sight of blood I changed my mind.

I wanted to be a teacher. I still think I would have been good at it. Creative writing....or maybe History.

When I was pre-teenage young, all I could think of was growing up & getting out of the disfunctional home I was living in. Then for a while in my teen years I remember wanting to be a legal secretary so I could marry a wealthy lawyer. (Glad that never happened; the experience I've had with lawyers espec. in recent years has shown me it likely wouldn't have been a happy marriage, lol.)
