Recently read a really different book MY LOVELY WIFE.  If you enjoy stories about serial murders you’ll be startled at this story. Can’t remember the author but please Goggle it.

Today picked up a right off the press book  THE WIVES  by Tarryn Fisher. The cover reads “How far would you go to find the truth about your husband. You’ll have whiplash until the very end.  THE WIVES will leave the most sure-footed reader uneasy until the last word is read.”

Author of MY LOVELY WIFE is Samantha Downing.

Those both sound good!  I ordered the first from my library site; they don't have The Wives yet but I will keep checking.

grammyk, started THE WIVES last night and find it’s more of a Harlequin type novel. Not something I care to recommend!  It deals with polygamy.  Ho hum!

Ok, thank you!  Maybe I'll just let that one go...

Happy New Year and Happy Hogmanay!

Don't forget to say "Rabbit, rabbit".  I hope 2020 is a better year for all of us, especially those who have had a bad 2019.  Been trying to get thru my first full year of widowhood, and it's not been easy.  Love and hugs to all our Bookoholics, keep reading, keep learning!

Big hugs, Rapa!

Yesterday I finished This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger. The book was on my "hold" list at the library for nearly three months and turned out to be everything I hoped it would be. Excellent! It is not in Krueger's Cork O'Conner series, but a "stand alone," I guess is the term used. In that respect, it is much like his earlier novel, Ordinary Grace.

As I often do after finishing a book, I checked the reviews on the Goodreads site. They pretty much confirmed my own view of the book when, after checking about a dozen of them, all but one had given This Tender Land the full five stars. The one that didn't gave it four.

I loved that Krueger book, loruach!!! Those kids will stay in my memory for a long time!!!!  Excellent story!!!!!!

Have read a couple really good books the past couple weeks.  Both terrific reads!

THE BOY by Tami Hoag:  difficult to put this one down!!!!!

FEVER a novel:   Based on life of Mary Mallon, the asymptomatic carrier of Typhoid Fever.   Author:  Mary Beth Keane
Highly recommend both books!

Absolutely loved Isabel Allende’s new novel A LONG PETAL of the SEA.  This historical fiction novel is an epic saga set during the Spanish Civil War.  The story follows two young people as they escape aboard poet Pablo Neruda’s real-life ship, the SS WINNIPEG which takes them to Chile. Anyone else read this?

Currently reading THE WIFE and THE WIDOW.  This novel asks the unnerving question: How well do we really know the people we love?

BTW, THE WIFE and THE WIDOW’S  author is Christian White. Finished the book last night and it has a really WOW ending!!!!!!

Have you read "Where the Crawdads Sing" yet, rapa? Beautifully written. There were a few parts I skimmed  threw rather quickly, but all in all, it was one of the best books I have read recently.

Indeed I’ve read WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING!  Terrific story!  I’ve gifted it to some shut-ins. I think you’d enjoy A LONG PETAL of the SEA.   Good historical fiction!
