Since my interest in the Haiku form arose out of my exploration of mindfulness, most of my efforts will somehow fall under that heading. So rather than try to force-fit them into previously existing discussions, I will start my own. I make no pretense now, of understanding the nuances of the form other than the 5/7/5 requirement, so I guess they will mostly be "basterdizations". So be it, sometimes the message trumps the format. That being said, I promise to take the time to at least try to understand the rules that I may be breaking. I will start by collecting here the few that have been offered elsewhere.

Hahaha! I worry about failing all the time. And I worry about worrying about failure, and about "what is failure anyway?", and about all the types of failing--including failing to fail, and about having to fail to succeed, and about failing to see my failures, until all the angst cancels itself out in a paralysis similar to catatonia. Frankly, I think God (if there is a sentient one and not just some perpetual equation) should be able to come up with an elegant way, out of the supposedly infinite possibilities available to him/her/it, to give us ol' homo sapiens a break while still fulfilling his/her/its ultimate plan. That is, of course, unless the ultimate plan is to create species and then make them SUFFER. LOL!

Renowned Harvard cognitive psychologist, Steven Pinker, calls it recursive thinking: thinking about thinking, then thinking about thinking about thinking. The Buddhists call it "the second arrow". The first being what Hamlet referred to as "the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune". The second (third etc.) being how we then shoot ourselves with angst. The roll of mindfulness is to break the recursion. And notice, the Budda jettisoned the traditional reliance on God(s). You have to do it yourself, an anathema to Western religion.

Spiritual bliss

A slippery fixation

Life is what it is

Unthinking anger

A dungeon of resentment

Venom on the mind

Find the jailers key

Let go the acrimony

Equanimity

Ere the molehill grows

The proverbial mountain

Nip it in the bud

Day dreaming again

Striving to stay in focus

There I go again

Chop wood tote water

Realize Enlightenment

Chop wood tote water

Or to update it to the modern world

Mow lawn wash dishes

Realize Enlightenment

Mow lawn wash dishes

Facts seems obvious

But are they legitimate

Or wishful thinking

Confined once again

In my oubliette of angst

Know that it's not real

"Oubliette of angst" is SO good!

Mental distinctions

A kaleidoscope of thoughts

Must learn all is one

Tedious duty

Must focus on chore at hand

Fulfillment who knew
