TBD on Ning

Do you have certain tasks that you perform each year as the seasons change?  I remember when I was young, my mom would have us (her daughters) do a spring cleaning which meant washing the surbases, washing windows, cleaning out draws and closets, etc.  When I was younger my mom would help, she would tackle the kitchen and bathroom and my sister and I would do the living room and our bedrooms.  As I got older I remember My mom and dad would usually head out, to do the grocery shopping or something, and my sister and I would turn on the tunes and do some serious cleaning of the whole apartment.   So needless to say, Spring is always a harbinger of cleaning for me.  LOL  In the fall it is the changing of the clothes, storing the summer stuff and pulling out the sweaters.

Any rituals you have that mark the change of season?

My sisters and I had to do that as well.  We had a library and my job was to take every book off the shelf and dust them and then dust the book cases. Uhgggggg!!!

I have been kinda the opposite. I have certain jobs that I do outside every Spring......but I do the biggest amount of house cleaning at the start of Fall. When the kids were young, the place was always a shambles after summer vacation, anyway. And I was such a decorator for the upcoming Holiday season. I didn't wish to decorate a messy house.....and I had time while the kids were gone at school to really do some uninterrupted work. My house was always open to friends and family around the Holidays, and I wanted things to look good. I guess it's out of habit....since I no longer have company.....that I still clean really well in the Fall.

I don't think anyones ball did well this winter.

Have you noticed any low-flying helicopters over your yard lately??  :-)

scrub the salt off the truck,then..wax it.

Nothing so dramatic for me though. I planted a few seeds in pots today although it is early for even that here.  Probably two months to safely put things in a garden. Put some more pvc pipes on where the sump pump pumps water from the basement, a sure sign of Spring.

ehh not too much .. i have a bunch of really tall trees on my property so every spring and fall i go up on the roof and clean all the pine needles off so they don't clog up the drains .. i'll get out the clippers and trim the hedges in front of the house .. get the pool ready for the season .. nancy rediscovered the vacume this mornin and couldn't remember how to open the cylinder that the dirt is in to empty it so it spilled all over the floor .. kinda funny .. of course i was teasin her cause i heard the vacume and came in and said gee i was wonderin what that sound was .. i don't think i ever heard that before .. of course thats not true .. i just like to tease .. which is probably why she got so flustered and forgot how to empty the vacum.. when it comes to cleanin i should just butt out .. i think clint eastwood said it best .. a man has got to know his limitations .. i know mine .. i'm terrible at cleanin .. absolutely terrible ..

My rituals are about the same as yours T2 except now I don't have to do the season clothes change other than take out a few sweaters for a few months around the holidays. We don't have much of a season change more like a daily season change cool in the evening and warm during the day.

I used to do the windows every season however the last time the outside windows were done here was when I hired a window cleaner. I do the insides regularly but can't seem to find the energy to drag the ladder around the house for the outside. I would hire window cleaners again except they don't stay clean and sparkly long enough to justify the cost.

I do get rid of a lot of clothes, I don't spend a lot on them so it doesn't bother me to donate or toss.  I do a lot of inside fixing up, mainly painting.  I have my daughter go through her room and get rid of anything she doesn't use.  I can't stand clutter or storing things and sometimes I think I throw too much away, but if I haven't used it, no need to keep it.

I like to sacrifice a virgin every Spring...now if I could only find one.

It's because they went the way of the dinosaur.

Would a born again virgin count? Nah, probably not.  LOL

I forgot to mention at the RI house, some of the windows have the old fashioned, wood storms that hang from hooks above the window and have to be put up each winter and taken down in the fall. And I use it as an opportunity to clean the windows inside and out. But taking down the storms is kind of a awkward task for me because I am not really tall enough, so my brothers-in-law usually help out.    Along with my sister we make a day of it, cleaning off the outdoor furniture, clearing away the left over leaves and winter debris, generally cleaning the yard.  I use the house all year and keep it neat and clean.  But I will also wash the window sills and dust off the baseboard heaters.
