A Bank or A Credit Union ?

I joined my State Credit Union thru my daughter that works for the school system . . I like the fact that i can get my check free (rarely use them) . Monthly  fees are only one dollar a month . No charge for ATM fees using Cash Points .....

Seems the local banks charge more fees than credit union .

My no fee bank Santa Barbara Bank & Trust was recently bought out by Union Bank, now they want to charge a $3.00 fee to get a statement with a copy of your cancelled checks. I've been looking at credit unions of which there aren't any in the Santa Ynez Valley where I live unless I drive 20 minutes.

There is a credit union near our Costco store which we frequent about every two weeks so I think that will be my choice, with it I can use any ATM in the country without a fee and there are no other fees that the banks want to charge. Luckily I only have to change one automatic payment set up at my old bank. I let all my direct deposits continue to my WY bank and just write a check every few months to the local bank when the funds get low.

I'm pissed in general at banks now, I just wish there was a credit union near me.
