My family roots are in the South but I didn't grow up there. I think of my upbringing fondly, but I didn't get the heavy dose of "southern" that most people who grew up here did....but I can relate to all the stereotypes and the good stuff too. When my parents ended up settling here, I moved away. I ended up here by default, but I have grown to like it...the pace of life is different...slower..easier...I love the beaches and water but not crazy about the heat and humidity...but I lived in the cold for years...I'll take the bad hair and sweating to having to pile on the clothes to stay warm and the snow and the ice and the shoveling. Come on down when ya need to thaw out...
Frenchy, I liked that list. Being a homegrown, native, Newark, NJ, southern transplant to Florida also, I still have plenty of my Yankee traits, but these two below are really me to a tee. :-)
You measure distance in minutes. |
Ummm, why yes I do. I can't judge how many miles away something is, but I know how long it takes to get there. It's up to the rest of y'all to do the math and figure out how many miles that is (and which direction). As well as being mathematically challenged, I'm also directionally challenged. Other than that, I'm durn near perfect. (tongue in cheek)
You switch from heat to A/C in the same day. |
I'm tellin' ya, my a/c and heater really got a workout these past 2 days. One minute the sun is shining and you need the a/c on and then the wind starts viciously blowing outside and getting c-c-cold and you have to switch the thermostat to Heat.
