Uh,  Quinn,  per your request, included hereunder is the recipe I used for the fried green maters.  I wonder if anybody else will use it?  (heh, heh, heh, that last sentence was included to make this post into a question)

Cut the 'maters into 1/2 inch slices.  Season with pepper and season salt.

Preheat frying pan with EVOO, to medium heat.

Put a small amount of milk, white flour, beaten egg and corn meal in individual bowls.

Dunk each 'mater slice in the milk, then dredge in the flour, dip in the egg and dredge in the corn meal.

Put in the preheated frying pan,  cook for about four minutes per side, but not until they turn mushy.

Serve with some chicken thighs cooked the same way, but note they may need a bit more cooking time.

You may want to "kick it up a notch" with some cayenne pepper or hot sauce.

Day-yem, but those were good!

I've never had them. I've got tomatoes growing this year, too. Hmm...

We may have to strap Quinn to a chair and make her eat this and some chicken fried steak, too.
NEVER going to happen.
The look of chicken fried steak is just, well...gross! I can't imagine the taste...
Tastes just how it looks.
Delicious, right d's?
Right up there with grits, I bet.
Hey, whatchu talkin' about? I can make ya some good grits.
Folks that don't know southern cooking just don't know what they're missing do they?
I'll take my chances and stick with my cheesteaks and tastykakes
:-)
I'll have to admit I'm learning some new things myself...;-D
Thanks for the recipe, Stir. I'll try it very soon. My garden is full of green 'maters.

Paper thin sliced sirloin, fried on the griddle served on a long roll with American cheese, sautéed onions, and tomato sauce.
People in other parts of the country claim to have an “Authentic Philly Cheesesteak”, but they really don’t.

Tastycakes are snack cakes, but to compare them to Hostess or Little Debbie’s would be a HUGE injustice to these treats.

I guess you don’t know what a Peanut Chew is either…
nope, I don't.
