We all know the media has a flair creating panic, terror, fear and chaos. Yet there are many newsworthy stories that go underreported. Here's a list of Time's top 10 for 2007:

So why aren't we hearing about this news? Not enough 'dirt'? Did anyone hear about #8? -- the largest worldwide oil find since 2000. I know i didn't. They found 8 billion barrels of crude oil off the coast of South America. This could mean that Brazil may rival Saudi Arabia and Venezuela as exporters.

That's big news...no terror..no chaos...just a big news story -- and a big boost to the Brazilian economy! #2 is interesting, too.

Are news stories being dashed because they don't have enough 'fear factor' for big ratings?
