TBD on Ning

Livingston, Texas

Hello again,

Happy and I are now at Georgetown, Texas. Just North of Austin. We left Galveston on the 26th of May and moved up to Livingston, Texas. That is where the Escapees RV Club Headquarters is located. It is also where my permanent home address says I live. I needed to get the RV a new inspection sticker and I needed to get the tailgate of the Jeep repaired. What do you mean? why? Let's just say that the owners manual doesn't recommend backing into cement telephone poles.

Besides I had not finished with Pru. She did not want me to leave until we had one more intimate fling. So I agreed, and she came to Livingston to learn how to play dominos. She was a very good student and I feel sure she will now be able to hold her own in the back rooms of the Houston establishments.

I was preparing to head for Atlanta when I happened to notice in the Workcamper News Hotline Report, that the Lower Colorado River Authority needs camp hosts for some of their recreation areas around Lake Travis. I always wanted to live on Lake Travis. So, I thought, "why not". I contacted them and they said "You sound just like what we are looking for". I sent in an application and drove to Georgetown. I am staying at Berry Springs RV Park just north of Georgetown.

Today, I took Happy and we drove to Gloster Bend where the site is located that LCRA wants me to host. After much contemplation, I have decided to not except the position. It is too remote. I would be the only one there most days. I can see very litlle advantage over sitting in the hay field at my farm in WV. I will talk to the Personnel Recruter tomorrow and see if she has any other less remote locations available. If not I'll probably move up to the RV park at Ft. Hood for a couple days. Visit with some old friends, replenish my food supply out of the commisary, and head for Atlanta, GA.

Pictures are included below:

Great little picnic area goes with the site.

House on other side of lake. Over 50 mi. away by car.

This evening Happy and I went for a walk at Berry Springs Park. It is very near the RV park where we are staying. We were here two years ago.

This is one huge park. the pond shown here is for catch and release fishing.

More park.

Ok, thts about it for now. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

When I was training truck drivers I would intentionally have them turn around in a vacant parking lot where there were light poles to see if they would avoid hitting them with the trailer. They all knew to swing wide but so many of them would drag that trailer toward the pole. I waited until the second to yell at them.

Let me know when you'll be headed north out of Atlanta. Travel safe. Buy Happy some nice treats from me. I'll send you a check, wait for it.

Pru, the moment I read he taught you to play Dominoes I thought, "YAY! When Robbie gets here we can round up a game of Mexican Train Dominoes!" We had a 'game' day after a workout at my fitness studio this week & played a couple rounds. One of the people who'd never played before loved it; she mentioned it the rest of the week when we crossed paths.

Robbie, those are great pics. Thanks for sharing them with us. What a gorgeous park. And that's a really nice looking rig you have.

Chez, That is exactly what I did. Except it was a cement pole.

Nice pics, Robbie, thanks for sharing them.

I feel for your poor Jeep's backside. I did the same thing last year: swung back smartly from my parking space in the totally empty lot and smacked into the only obstruction - a lamp post that was hiding in my blind spot. I got the trunk lid replaced and within six months it collected two dents, neither one my fault. She is just living with them, too bad for her.
