TBD on Ning

I haven't posted travel blog for some time. I got involved with other things and I wasn't really on the road for some time after On The Road 26 1/2.

I think it is now time to catch up with what Happy and I have been doing the last few weeks.

We hung around Galveston for a few weeks after I got back from Colorado. After all, the fishing was good. The weather wasn't too hot. And the mosquitoes weren't too bad.

One of the highlights of the time there was a visit to Seawolf Park. The park is on Pelican Island. It has a World War II Submarine and a Destroyer that you can tour. It is very impressive and it has wonderful views of Galveston Harbor. If you ever get a chance, I highly recommend a visit to Seawolf Park. You can tour the Sub and get a very real feel for what it would have been like to live under water for long periods of time. Or on the surface, knowing that the enemy is below.

Here are some Pictures. first the USS Cavello

Another Picture of the Sub

Sleeping quarters, "Momma!!! "There's a torpedo under my bed"!!!

How would you like to work qnd sleep here? For months?

You can pretend you were there

Very cool Robbie....I was a Girl Scout leader back in the day and we took our troop "911" to the USS Silverside which is 'drydocked' on a river for an overnight....It was a hoot! The girls got to sleep in the bunks fore and aft...We set up 'watches' and the like. Some had KP duty and some had to swab the deck. I remember sleeping was pretty sketchy that night.
I've been on a tour of one in San Francisco too. I've been on the Enterprise too....I've been lucky. I do have an affinity for WW II air craft though...
