Michelle's 46th Birthday Organic Lamb and Lobster Bash

It seems that every time a story is printed about the Obama's enjoying a night out on the town, it includes a lavish lobster dinner at a swanky eatery.

Tsk-tsk.

And we know Miss Michelle didn't have any trouble blowing out the candles because her husband invited the 'inner circle' to join in the festivities, like Marian Robinson, Michelle's mother, and Atty General Eric Holder and his wife Sharon Malone. Eric and Cheryl Whitaker, and Marty Nesbitt and wife Anita Blanchard flew in from Chicago. Most of the other guests come from their circle of Chicago friends, many of whom joined the Obama administration, such as Valerie Jarrett, Senior White House adviser and personal friend of the Obamas, Susan Sher, the First Lady's chief of staff, Cindy Moelis, Director of the White House Fellows program, Elizabeth Alexander, a former University of Chicago faculty member now at Yale, who delivered a poem at the Obama inauguration, and Jocelyn Frye, Mrs. Obama's Harvard Law School classmate and Director of Policy and Projects in the First Lady's office.

The president rented a private room (of course) at Restaurant Nora for four hours and had a special lobster and lamb meal prepared. The lobster dish on the regular menu is $35 --- but you know the costs were significantly higher as Chef Benjamin Lambert prepared a special off-the-menu lamb dish for the birthday girl, as well as seared Maine lobster and saffron risotto, complemented by organic wine, a 2008 Spottswoode Suauvignon Blanc. Lambert told The Washington Post that he'd been planning for the presidential meal for two weeks.

That said, it's nice to know they're enjoying organic foods. And the wine was reasonably priced at $68 a crack. I'm sure a good time was had by all.

Now, I don't begrudge anyone their birthday celebrations (I'm still in the throws of my own), but is there no end to the Obama's very public, and very extravagant spending during such rough economic times?

Imagine the good things the cost of the rented room, dinner and bar bill could have done for people in Haiti...or even right in DC...and every state in our country.

I dunno.....something isn't right when someone who promised so much to so many, and has since spent so much on himself and his family, and is preparing to sell so many of us down the river with socialized health care and the extinction of caring for our country's aging population. I would think the TBD readership would be very concerned about this, as it's our aging behinds -- and any others over the age of 40 years -- that are on the line here. And yes, the Obama's are over 40, but they will 'fiddle-dee-dee' their way down the yellow brick road on this one, because their health care, and that of their family, will be exempt from social health care....for life. A perk also enjoyed by house and senate members.

I really want to respect these people, but their sensibilities and priorities are just a little skewed for my likeing. It's as if this extravagant spending (the $20,000 vacation rental) is being flaunted in the faces of so many who have lost their businesses, their jobs, their homes, their cars, their kid's education...it keeps getting worse for the people, but large corporations continue to be bailed out...so they can be government owned. Cha-ching!

I just don't get a warm and fuzzy about things to come.

come to think of it -- and since you brought it up, snagg, the legendary partying escapades of the democrats have been well documented throughout history...john kennedy, teddy kennedy, bill clinton, former NY gov. eliot spitzer, the prince of colorado - gary hart, john edwards of NC, the reverand(!) jesse jackson, barney frank, former NJ gov jim mcgreavey, former DC mayor marion barry, current LA mayor antonio villaraigosa, jerry springer when he was in office on ohio -- to name a few....there have been many more liberals out lookin' for a good time. jimmy carter was a good boy, bless his heart. i'm sure his brother, book deals, public appearances, and all those acres of peanuts have kept him pretty busy.

and that's not to suggest the other sides don't have a few fallen angels. it's not really about that. it's about respect, leadership, humanitarianism and social conscious.

i'm not a member of either party, but let's face it....it seems as though the democrats have more waaaaaay mo' fun than any other party. and, hey, i'm all for a good time -- but at this juncture in our history, i don't care for obama's 'in-your-face' spending. it's a microcosm of his overall behavior -- personal and national budgets....it's excessive.

Hey, your right Snagg. Climate Change is a complete fabrication!

But Weather Control isn't.
They have been heavily spraying chem trails over the Southern California area for weeks now.

So, I think it is not inconceivable to "Blame" this potentially catastrophic rainstorm on the
Federal Government!

oh snagg, i'm sure there's a place near you where you can go and rent a clue. the economy in the US is the worst it's ever been -- worse than the depression -- that would be the 1920's, before any of those you mentioned were in politics, or even born.

and not for nuthin' but "high-falutin'" tastes aren't a party thing...it's an individual consciousness thing. most people like nice things, but they wouldn't dream of flaunting their bling while taking part in a rescue effort in haiti. i would expect my president would keep his extravagant, excessive personal life on the down low during this economic crisis.

the bush family 'partied' and vacationed on their ranch in texas or in kennebunkport, properties that have been in their family for many years. i'm sure they went elsewhere and partied up a storm, but they never flaunted it. reagan was quiet, too. the only thing you seemed to hear about jerry ford is when he bumped his head or took a spill --- not the details of his partying.

obama's favor has dramatically declined in a very short period of time. this isn't about political parties....it's about showing one's compassion, commitment to the people and humanity.....or in his case, lack thereof.

Yeah, yeah, yeah...Those filthy elitist liberals with their high-falutin' tastes.

Because we all know, the Bushes never, ever ate or drank anything except Walmart canned BBQ and gas station beer, even during Katrina - 'cause they were just such good, wholesome salt-of-the-Earth types.

Yeah, the Obamas enjoy those "perks" - 'cause Nixon, Bush, Ford, Reagan and the Bush boys - None of THEM ever abused the public trust by making use of that government insurance plan, No Sir. When Reagan got shot or his colonoscopies were performed, when Bush got sick in Japan, when Ford repeatedly brained himself on low-hanging objects, when Dubya couldn't walk and eat a pretzel at the same time, all of that - That was all paid for by lemonade stand proceeds, a spectacular display of faith and decency displayed by adorable little 100% white & christian children who swung into patriotic action from coast to coast. You Bet!

Yeesh. Why don't you blame your weird rainstorms on the Obamas, too, and cite their freakishness (the storms, that is) as obvious proof that climate change is a complete fabrication?
