Just another example of how many Republicans have no respect for The Office Of The President, some "Patriots"

People on the right like to claim that they are such Patriots, but last night they exposed themselves for what they are. They tarnished the House Of Representatives.

Many will say it is about the Obama's policies but hey are again making excuses for behavior that has never been witnessed, until a person of color stepped into that office. Their racism is so ingrained and deep, that they can't ever help themselves from letting it bubble up.

I was happy to see the gestures the President made towards these same "Representatives", but also to hear him say loudly, that the lies, backbitting and fear tactics will have to stop. That he plans to "CALL YOU OUT" if it continues.

I think he made the people and their lies look petty, foolish and ugly.

Joe Wilson wasn't the only disrespectful Republican

Whoever came up with House Republicans' strategy for a real-time response to President Obama's address to a joint session of Congress Wednesday night should probably have given the whole thing just a little more thought.

The original Republican plan, which was to carry in copies of various GOP-sponsored healthcare bills with the words "What bill?" written on the back in case Obama accused the opposition of not having proposed its own solutions, might not have been so bad on its own. It would have looked petty, sure, maybe a little childish -- certainly it wouldn't have been the most dignified thing to do while sitting in the House chamber as the president speaks. But it might not have gotten much attention, save a few puzzled questions, were it not for Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., who interrupted the president's speech with a shout of "You lie!"

Wilson has already put out a statement apologizing for his outburst, and even called the White House to offer his apologies to Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel. (After the speech, Emanuel reportedly approached two Republican leaders and demanded that apology, saying, "No president has ever been treated like that.")

But the damage has already been done. The story now -- and, most likely, on Thursday -- is congressional Republicans looking like a bunch of townhall protesters during the speech, being generally disrespectful to the president. And there's more fodder for that story still percolating out there. There's video of Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va., the Minority Whip, on his BlackBerry during the speech, for instance. And then there's this, from an article by the Washington Post's Dana Milbank:

When Obama addressed the charge that he plans "panels of bureaucrats with the power to kill off senior citizens," someone on the GOP side shouted out "shame!" The president went on: "Such a charge would be laughable if it weren't so cynical." "Read the bill!" someone shouted back. Obama mentioned those who accuse him of a government takeover of health care. "It's true," someone shouted back .... Even as Obama delivered a tribute to the late senator Ted Kennedy, Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga), a leader of House conservatives, perused his BlackBerry. Shortly before the speech ended, Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) walked out to beat the rush.

All of this is a gift to the White House. All of it will serve to reinforce the impression, which reform supporters have been working hard to create and spread, that Republicans have gone around the bend, that they're more interested in attacking Obama than in reaching across the aisle to work on reform. And it makes Obama look calm, bipartisan and presidential.

There's some damage to Wilson himself, too. As of this post, his Democratic opponent for 2010, Rob Miller, had raised about $50,000 since the speech.

Source: Wilson breaks $1 million

A source on Rep. Joe Wilson's campaign says his fundraising has broken $1 million -- and surpassed that of his Democratic rival, Rob Miller -- since his outburst of "You lie!" during President Obama's address to Congress Wednesday.

The source said Wilson's current tally is $1,005,021 from 18,859 donations amid a high-profile campaign on the Drudge Report and elsewhere telling conservatives that Wilson is "under attack" for his willingness to take on Obama.

Wilson, who initially apologized for his words, is now riding a reaction that has surpassed the liberal backlash to his words: Miller has raised less than $900,000, according to the Democratic fundraising site ActBlue -- though still more than enough to envigorate his challenge.

Still, Wilson's success -- despite having been criticized by Republican leaders -- represents the power of the conservative grassroots to reward politicians who confront the White House in the sharpest terms.

"However, I believe it was the first "black" president. The honorable William Jefferson Clinton, a democrat, who first showed disrespect for the office of the Presidency of the United States. He charmed a certain young woman into performing some specific sexual services for him on taxpayer time no less. Yet here we are feigning outrage on how this president was treated last night. The implied idea being that all of this behavior is due to racist attitudes of these representatives."

Gee, maybe it's just me. But, somehow a president using some "groupie" doesnt seem as harmful as starting a war with lies or shouting down someone who is trying to explain themselves. Why do YOU care about the sex lives of others? How many presidents do you suppose cheated and just never got caught? OK, I doubt Carter or Nixon did. But, I'm not sure about any of the others. Clinton wouldnt have gotten caught had not a mole ratted on a girlfriend. Anyway, looking at all the politicians who ARE getting caught lately.......

Sigh Vern, at last you get a rise out of me and no doubt Ms. Gracie will be along shortly to delete me which is fine. However, I'd like to address the main theme of this thread which is respect for the office of the presidency. I'll refrain from commenting on your "the world knows what is really going on." It's not something you and I would agree on at all.

It reminds me of one of my sons whom I once caught with his hand in the cookie jar after he'd been told to leave it alone. He deadpanned that it was not what I thought it was, that he had other intentions and I just didn't like him....well just because I didn't like him. The fact was I caught him red handed and he just didn't have any rational reason for his actions. Sorta like this thread with obama. He's been caught with his hand in the cookie jar and the only rational anyone can come up with is....."well you don't like him because..." Really now?

Miller has $400,000 as of this afternoon. I'm just saying...

Miller has raised close to $200.000 as of this morning. I think your second paragraph nails it. It is like they can't even help themselves. President Obama makes them lose control of their minds and bodies. Witness Sarge. He wants to say something, but doesn't know what to say, so he says nothing. It's sort of comical, sort of sad. I know there are black folks all over the country (and the world) who know exactly what is going on. More and more people's eyes are being opened to what lies beneath the surface in this country. I wonder what younger people think?
