Here no evil, see no evil, speak no evil....?

Whats up?...I left a comment on a certain blog. Some owners of blogs check their comments before approving them. Whats the point of a one sided blog? Whatcha gunna learn?. How can we gain truth and understanding if we pick and choose what we listen to and who's blogs we post? It just so happened my blog post was thoughtful and in no way would have hurt anyone.

My viewpoint may be different, but I hoped it would be helpful to some in the understanding of why someone might be tougher in their outlooks on life than others, and what some may consider hurtful may only be tough love to others and that very love may have saved someones life.. Love comes in many different forms, so if its truth your after how are you going to find it by shutting out people with different points of view?

I get a bad feeling about certain voices being blocked and other voices allowed to be heard.....even in the name of goodness...it can turn into something like the Salem witch hunts in the end.

Yes Phil, I see it, I have experienced it and no I do not like it either. Sad world on the outside, but a wonderful world within, just the same...

I don't remember attacking at all...debating....in a way..yes, but at the same time I really wanted to put something out there that saved my life called tough love....without it I might still be at the bottom of a bottle, or 10 feet under. I was responding to a woman who was responding to you..I actually wasn't responding to you at all. The woman was lashing out at people who use terms like...get over it.....Don't sit on the pity pot, don't waste your energy etc, etc, etc,....I cant remember exactly what she said, but I was trying to set the record straight, that those people who bother to send a comment for someone in trouble, no matter what the comment might be are simply trying to be helpful in their own way...why stomp on people for trying to help? That was my point...I really do not understand at all why you stopped my comment unless you were trying to keep the whole thing going in your own direction. That's cool...maybe you were hurting and needed comments directed to soothe your hurt psyche...sorry if I intruded....K

Dear CaseyJo, I am not sure why it is so upsetting, However I accept that it is for you and for others. If people have been attacked on online sights by mean spirited people, or perhaps jealous or mentally ill people, they might become gun shy of what they allow to be printed. Some night even be just wary of something that is said as staring the attacks all over again.

Another little something to put in the pot is, that maybe people attacking others online should be censored, it is not always just a matter of a good or healthy debate. Not everyone has bad or evil intentions when they post. But there are those who find pleasure or joy in attacking or chasing others away from a sight, some sort of syndrome or something I would guess, to make them feel powerful or more important.

I have done what you have brought up here, once was due to posting a blog public and then with you on one I had posted public. If you feel offended or like I am less than Casey I apologize for causing you to feel that way. My idea was to not draw attention, because I am one of those who is not leaving Ning or any other sight that I choose to be on, I am also trying in my own way to deal with a small clique of very mean spirited and ill meaning people who seem to take pleasure in finding fault and making upset whenever I post.

So if I, and I do not know if this was your only experience with it, but in so far as I did not post one of your comments, I am quite sorry for your hurt feelings. However I do think that your assessment of the situation is a little narrow minded. Sometimes people do have reasons for the way they act or things they do. And it is not always something as bad or as cynical as it may seem at first glance. Some people do not enjoy the hatefulness of some and some of us would rather just do our best to avoid it.

I carry some very wonderful debates on several threads, it is rare if everyone agrees with my views, however it is very telling when people are "debating or attacking", and after a while I get weary of it. So this is where I was coming from, I cannot speak the reasons for others. But I do not think to have some small control is a bad thing. Although I understand your and others point on this.

That is a great idea.....a marker should go up to show when someone has been censored... Then others can see where the censoring is going on, and know their comment has not been lost. I think it should be looked into, but I have no idea where to go to make the suggestion. When I first came to this site I wrote to Robin about a problem I had, but never heard anything back.

That's what got me going on this in the first place. Then I got to thinking about all the ramifications of censoring in the first place......Maybe it is helping the person who feels the need, but what about the posters to the blog? What about their feelings? I think censoring is selfish, and it also gives readers a fake impression about what is going on as we think everyone is agreeing and we don't get a good round picture. It is good only for those that are trying to weed people out. What do they have left? A bunch of people who agree with them, but no debate, no fun. I think the best friends are those that can disagree, but still be a good friend.

What bugs me is there's no marking on a blog to show that its censored. It's annoying to take the time to type something and then find out its gone in someone's bit bucket.

Prunella...I like the way you put it about censorship powers. It is a power we all should be able to take advantage of if needed........I like to hear it all, don't like to miss a thing and learn from most everything I hear, but it is still important that we have a choice to use those censorship powers if we feel the need. I suppose I am fortunate I have never felt the need. I just hope the people who choose to use them can look outside the box.

Please keep posting, most get put up and if some don't make it, so be it. From what you have written here you seem to have some views that are worth reading. So don't worry about what other think or do.
