TBD on Ning

I'm going to keep this brief.

It was so much fun watching the amped up television media make fools of themselves over the Balloon Boy hoax. Any thinking person will understand that our political news is handled the same way.

Now that the entire episode was determined to be a hoax perpetrated by a Colorado family hoping to create interest in a reality TV show about themselves the authorities are trying to determine the appropriate punishment. Let's pile the entire family into a balloon, cut the rope, and see what happens.

How true; I felt the same way. What does that say about us? We don't care if some kid is floating around dangerously in a balloon but become fascinated by the hoax. Everything gets so hyped up today it takes much more to get us interested. I think if cable news reported Jesus had returned and was sitting in a diner in Western Pennsylvania we'd keep channel surfing.

Funny thing. When the story first broke about a boy lost in a balloon incident, I had no interest at all. When I saw any news report about the story, I'd change the channel. But then, when the story broke that it was all a hoax, I became fascinated. The hoax story, I thought, was much more interesting than the lost boy story.
