After six days and nights of giving my daughter meds every four hours around the clock, I have a new theory about why people our age decide to have new babies:

1) They don't remember what it's like. Or..
2) Their lease prohibits dogs.

It's All Done

The surgery went textbook perfectly. Plates and screws and bolts are all in place, and she's resting as comfortably as can be expected.

How I Spent My Summer Vacation

While joining the in-laws at their annual reunion in East BFE, Mississippi, my 16 y/o daughter, Sara, twisted her ankle and broke both leg bones. The thin one is splintered vertically, and the big bone is cracked open horizontally.

Three doctors concur that it will take surgery to set the bones. Which can't be done at least until tomorrow, when they open their "SurgiCenter," where her orthopedist practices.
