General Discussion for all

I wonder if a lot of us are alike....the holidays are about 5 and 6 months off...but in another month I usually start looking at recipes, getting ideas of what I want to bake...to do...I'm thinking of adding some discussions covering those items...anyone have any special ideas..special catagories?

Right now I'm not doing alot of typing cause on July 1st I broke my right arm and I'm not left handed! But, what I do most for the holidays is baking Christmas cookies, many types, traditional and non traditional, There are so many I would think they'd be a catagory of their own. I'd love some new ones from other contries to try! Great idea Jan. Thanks, Maducks :)

Any other suggestions for Discussions....anything you think should be separated from whats listed?

I would like to see someone do some cooking classes somewhere in this section. Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced classes. The Beginner class would be basic stuff like cooking terms, equivalents, substutions, etc. The Intermediate class would be a little more adventurous. And the Advanced class would be really advanced.
and, after every class, a final "exam" for everyone to eat. I've seen any number of people on this site, as well as the old site, who say they can't cook. We can change that with some online classes. It's one thing to see a recipe. It's a whole 'nother ball game to know why recipes are done the way they are. For example, sugar vs. powdered sugar, or when to use sifted flour vs. not sifting flour. These kinds of things could be taught in an online class, too. Are there any really good cooks who would be willing to share their expertise with the world? I can make something out of nothing, and I've been told I'm a good cook, but I certainly wouldn't describe myself as a gourmet cook or a teacher.
