If I were going to buy a computer right now I would buy a PC. My main reason would be price. I can get a pretty good PC for $300 to $400 and a Mac would cost three times that. I do believe the Mac is a better computer but not better enough to pay that much for it. Of course my needs from a computer are not that complicated.
My computer skills are so rudimentary that I'll stick with a PC, thanks. I've had my Dell for two and a half years now, with no problems except those that were operator induced.
I bought a new computer last year and it is a Mac. If I bought another, it would be a Mac.
Our family has always had Apple computers. In fact, I still have my first one and it still works. I just get new ones as they become more powerful. The old ones are still good for what they could do before, but I expect more from mine now.
At work we use Dell, but they are a utility there like the telephone and we have no choice. They are cheap and easy to replace and we have technical support staff. I can't make one last for longer than a year. I'm really hard on my work computers. I just seem to burn them up.
Nope. I am a data coordinator. I keep the research data base clean, beautiful and ready for analysis. I am a resource for other clinical research professionals. I actually work when I am not at the office, too.
If you could google me, you would find me referred to as a "data work horse." Not a pretty thought. We don't have time for email tomfoolery at work. We are hard on our computers and hard on ourselves.
Sometimes at lunch, though~~~
It would be better if I got out and walked around the block a bit.
I've got a Dell Desk top with Canon flat bed scanner and Canon printer. Had 'em all since 2000 and except for 2 serious virus attacks, I've been quite satisfied.
If you need (or want) to produce high quality media, such as digital movies and digital photographs, then the Mac is for you. Otherwise, the bang for the buck is the PC.

I have a PC. The main reason is I use PCs that have been assigned to me at work. I've seen enough of MACs to know they are a little different. Maybe I am lazy, but I just like using the same system all the time.
