AVATAR takes us to a spectacular world beyond imagination, where a reluctant hero embarks on an epic adventure, ultimately fighting to save the alien world he has learned to call home. James Cameron, the Oscar-winning director of "Titanic," first conceived the film 15 years ago, when the means to realize his vision did not exist yet. Now, after four years of production, AVATAR, a live action film with a new generation of special effects, delivers a fully immersive cinematic experience of a new kind, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film disappears into the emotion of the characters and the sweep of the story.

We enter the alien world through the eyes of Jake Sully, a former Marine confined to a wheelchair. But despite his broken body, Jake is still a warrior at heart. He is recruited to travel light years to the human outpost on Pandora, where corporations are mining a rare mineral that is the key to solving Earth's energy crisis. Because the atmosphere of Pandora is toxic, they have created the Avatar Program, in which human "drivers" have their consciousness linked to an avatar, a remotely-controlled biological body that can survive in the lethal air. These avatars are genetically engineered hybrids of human DNA mixed with DNA from the natives of Pandora... the Na'vi.

Reborn in his avatar form, Jake can walk again. He is given a mission to infiltrate the Na'vi, who have become a major obstacle to mining the precious ore. But a beautiful Na'vi female, Neytiri, saves Jake's life, and this changes everything. Jake is taken in by her clan, and learns to become one of them, which involves many tests and adventures. As Jake's relationship with his reluctant teacher Neytiri deepens, he learns to respect the Na'vi way and finally takes his place among them. Soon he will face the ultimate test as he leads them in an epic battle that will decide nothing less than the fate of an entire world.

As I stated, I'm looking forward to seeing this movie. Your synopsis is intriguing.
I think you will like this movie Assassin. When you do check it out, please come back and share your thoughts with us.
I'm hearing some critics blast the film, but the people actually liked it.
I usually don't trust critics (not you Earende! LOL!!) but I would like some feed back on this movie before I check it out.
How long is it?
160 minutes.
And I don't trust critics either! LOL!
First let me just say that everyone should see this movie for the visuals if nothing else; the world is breathtaking, and the Na'vi are the best CG characters I have ever seen. They are so believable and life-like that you forget that you're watching a mostly CG movie and just become immersed in the movie.
But if you do go see it, you'll find that there's much much more. The story is intriguing, the acting is superb, and the movie is well-rounded in all aspects. It has sad/emotional parts, some romance, lots of action (particularly towards the end), and a lot of virtue. This movie made me realize some things about my own life... what really matters and why it's important. I couldn't help but feel for the characters and sometimes wished I was there.
Also, see it in IMAX 3D, you'll be glad you did! The picture was clear, the 3D gave great depth perception and made virtual computer UI pop out, but was subtle enough that it didn't feel gimmicky.
Overall, I would recommend this movie to just about anyone that has solid values or a deep appreciation for life, or anyone who just enjoys a good movie. If this doesn't fit you, then don't go see it. But if it does, then trust me, you won't be bored for one second of this show stopping masterpiece.
I'm in Max. I'll be checking it out before school starts---my daughters swear they will die an unnatural death if I don't get them to this movie before they return.
So glad to hear that you liked it and I won't be bored. I'll get back to you on my experience.
I think this movie will resonate with the majority of the movie goers. It had both children and adults mesmerized.
I would love to hear more reviews. Good, bad or mediocre!
