An indoor gun & archery firing range.

a huge used-book store

Oh, wow, I'd love to be that close to a good bookstore.  But alas, we're out in the boonies, so that gun/archery range is the only thing within 5 min.  (Which is worrisome being this far out; don't know what we're gonna do when we can't drive any more, sigh.)

girl, you're not gonna get where you can't drive any more.  just as long as you keep it current, you can't forget how.  and they ain't gonna stop makin' neighbors or people who'll do it for money.

just 'cause it's huge don't mean it's a good bookstore.  now if I could stay there all day and look at Everything, maybe.  nothing is in alphabetical order, ha.  the back corners are the best because that's where the dusty and unboxed books are.  the front's mostly romance and moider.  the classics shelves are good but very limited.

hang in there!

Thanks, Cali, I hope you're right but I already feel like I might be losing driving ability (I hate doing it & feel nervous all the time anyway); I took a driving refresher course thru AARP but wasn't really any help; he handed us a booklet with stuff I already knew & then he just stood there & read from it.  & I guess the reason I'm kinda depressed was the book said "do you find yourself driving out of your way so you won't have to make non-signalized left-hand turns?" Yep, that's me.  Well the book says that means you are starting to lose some ability so do definitely avoid left-hand turns.  Plus the book says look into other means of transportation rather than driving yourself.  & the instructor says, "you know we are in an area that's really challenged as to public transit so you may have to work hard to find another way to get places." Duh, ya think?  You know how they always say "old age ain't for sissies"?  Well, it also ain't for people who've never had kids & very little other family around to help; it also ain't for people whose neighbors all work all day (& a lotta weekends!); and it also ain't for people who live too far out from a town with already limited public transit.

Oh, well, sorry for the rant; but you know what?  I've got bad news and good news; the bad news is, life's a bitch.  The good news is, and then you die.
