They were thinking of a much smaller group of more reliable people who could vote for them.

nope...the populaar vote is balanced out by the electoral college. the idea is that without the electoral college, areas with a large population will simply override the rural areas and small towns. that is why the electoral college was devised

That the US would have at least some of the same services for old people--being able to stay in your home, still keep a pet, etc. even tho you can't drive anymore--that some counties in Europe do.  We just had to have our old dog put to sleep & aren't able to get another one becuz not sure how long we'll be able to drive.  And no kids & very little other relatives around who can help.  And stuck on too big a place too far out from town.  So this getting old thing totally sucks & the worst part is no more dogs which--and this is a fault of mine, I realize--also sucks becuz I like most dogs better than I like most people.  So it's true what they say about old age ain't for sissies and it also ain't for those with no kids and it also ain't for those who like having pets.  Hey, you know what tho? I got bad news & I got good news:  the bad news is, life's a bitch; the good news is, and then you die.
