What's the best thing you ever won in a contest?

Remember the show "Trading Spaces?" ABout 10 years ago, my best friend, her husband, me and my husband won a local "Trading Places" contest. Same concept. We worked our a$$es OFF for 48 hours straight pretty much. We worked with local TV personalities during the daytime and then by ourselves till about 3 in the morning then BACK up at 6 am for the cameras!! OUR WIN: a finished basement, bookshelves with doors lining the back wall, 2 couches, decorative pillows, coffee tables, curtains, and a throw rug.

MY BEST FRIEND"S WIN: We painted their panelled family room, installed a mantel, created an entertainment center for their TV plus they got new curtains, rugs, "MOVIE" chairs for the family of 4.

It was a cool experience and for about a year afterwards, we had people stopping us and saying, Werent you the people on TV?

If you stick strictly to the word "contest", I do not recall ever winning anything. I guess I am not very competitive and do not get involved with contests. I have won a few small things unworthy of mention in drawings, raffles, etc. But I will mention one weird one anyway. I went to a Walmart about two months back and bought some small thing like a bag of flour for a couple of dollars and paid for it. The checkout person then handed me a giftcard for $5. Apparently they have some system where every so many shoppers win one or randomly win one.

hmm .. i won the physical fitness award for my school .. won an archery contest when i went to camp one summer .. also won the skully championship .. boxed for the pal and won almost all my fights ..( can't win em all ) had a girlfriend who worked for allied chemical and they had a picnic and larry bird and dr. j were there and i won an autographed ball from larry bird .. bird is a biiiiig biiiig guy .. dr j was tall but not overly so . and more slight than you'd think .. i got to shoot around a little bit with larry bird and even got past him for a few shots .. i gave the ball to my son and who knows what happened to it . if i had it now .. hit the lottery once .. got 4 numbers out of 6 in the jersey lottery and won 174 bucks .. it was the first time i ever played .. i never won again .. so .. i guess i ain't been a total loser all my life .. it just seems like it sometimes thats all ..

I hang around Lowe's looking for the guys from yard or bath crashers...no luck yet. Kim, I don't know anyone who has ever won one of these...thanks for sharing, good to know it was a good experience. Gives me hope...lol.
