He taught the kids in Dead Poet's Society to carpe diem, and he did in his life.
One year Ihad an honor's class filled with lively kids. After we watched the movie, which I taught every year when I taught the Transcendentalists, the next day I walked in my class and the boys stood on their desks and said "O Captain my Captain" to me...a memorable moment. Of course, they did it for a laugh, but it still meant a lot to me that they learned to be free with me and were sure that I would take it the right way.

it is a sad day indeed .. i always thought he was a very complex person . i mean after all how can you do a standup act thats as fast as lightning and then play a part like good morning viet naam and then play a part thats so subdued he's barely breathin opposite deniro in awakenings and still steal the show ?? i think as an actor he was as good as anyone .. nicholson , pacino , deniro , .. and he couldn't have been that good if he didn't have a lot of stuff goin on inside him .. if you can believe that most comedy comes from a much deeper place .. a darker place where the demons tend to dwell then robin was the epitome of the tortured artist ..
I use a Robin William line from the Birdcage all the time. I am a perspirer of the first degree. In other words, I SWEAT! I always say, "I'm sweating like some kind of farm animal..." as he did in the movie when the parents of the fiancée were visiting, lol.
Thank you Robin.
Wonder if he ever said "frosty balls in the winter" ....
I have come close to cutting my wrist several times . Maybe someday I will be depressed enough . Still would have to have enough courage to do it . Right now I don't ....
Lauren Bacall Passed away today . She was a good actor especially when she got older ..
Also if you look at pictures of Robin Williams when he isn cutting up . He looks sad in his eyes ...
