I do notice you all call me by name . I thank you for that ...

I'll go first.  I don't call people names. I don't think I ever did, but I know men do.  My husband is becoming very disabled and the assholes he works with call him "stumbles" etc.  Sorry you had to go through that.

I don't think anyone wants to be obese.  A lot of it is genetic programming.  Look at Oprah--how many diets has she been on and she goes right back up.  I don't think anyone wants to be stick thin either. I feel bad for anyone who is uncomfortable in his/her own skin. If you are sad, I feel sad along with you.

Lots of comedians put themselves down and tell fat jokes all the time and it makes me think they are working out their psychological problems in front of people. Louie Anderson was a good one for that.  Roseann too, in the beginning, but then she did something about her weight.

If you don't like the way you are, why not get that surgery.  A cashier in my ShopRite did, and he is 1/3 the size he used to be.  You could still have lots of good years ahead, Wayne.

Yes wayne I have been called names not because I was fat but because I was soooo skinny. When I graduated from high school I was 6' 1' and weighed 130 lbs. I had to search for pants that would fit me. They either they fell down or only went half way down my calfs. I tried everything to gain weight but nothing helped. I was called Stick, worm, and other names. Finally I put on some weight in college, learned to drink beer.

well we already had this discussion wayne so you know how i feel .. i'd just say what cresty and pat said .. get that surgery if you can .. even doin that it will be a year before you start seein some substantial results .. but it will happen and soon enough you'll be a whole new person with a new outlook on life .. its not like you're too busy doin somethin else that you can't take the time .. and your diabetes would be better if not vanish completely .. your legs and knees would be better and they might do them surgeries .. you'd be able to get out and about .. and here's the bonus . your winkie just might work again too .. and women would swoon over you .. well .. maybe not swoon .. but then you never know .. maybe they will .. try and give me 2 good reasons why you wouldn't want all that ??

I didn't post this for pity . I already know the answers I need . I was wondering how you all felt being around such people in every day lives . I do like beer but drink very little of it . Just didn't want a beer gut on top of what I already have .

For many people food is an addiction like alcohol is for others, if I see someone who is extremely overweight I know they are suffering a painful existence although they aren't usually putting other people in misery like alcoholics do.
