psalm of ephraim
(a study in autumn)

whiling away the hours
whittling a stick down to a nub
if I had stopped at dusk
I would have a nice spear

Zimri is in Tishbe
wait until I say:
"we come in peace",
then heave the hoe this way.

Ephraim is zythering
zound fills the halls
will You counsel the dead
or try to buy time?
