TBD on Ning

Livin' out here on "The Leelanau": The Road Wearier 1978. Hey, wanna see my equipment?

No not THAT equipment....get your minds out of the gutter! I'm talkin' 'bout my cycling equipment!

Here we have it, ready to roll. Check out that big-ass water bottle! Its kind of hard to tell, but that bag under the seat used to be a rich shade of orange. The tops of the saddle bags are now pink, and were once a nice robust shade of red.

Look at that rust on the handlebars! Maybe I should take some steel wool to it. It doesn't seem to affect the actual riding of the bike, though.

Oh, there's some more rust. Yeah, I SHOULD get after that.

In case you're in the market...there's what to look for....the Schwinn Traveler III. That's one of the new tires and tubes. I hope it holds up.

And here's my brand new helmet....$16.95 at Meijer. I just couldn't bring myself to get the one for $21.95.

And now, I promise, I really do promise, that the next installment will take us to a really cool place out here on "The Leelanau", and it won't be very far from my house.

BAF, I think I left it out for a couple of years....all year 'round. It cost me about $150 to get it fixed up at the bike shop. Now I'll try to take better care of it. As far as girls swooning....mostly they just look the other way when they see me approaching.

I'm looking for a ladies comfort bike or hybred. When I find one I'm going to get back in shape. (:>)

Gary, it's great to know you are so well equipped! You're reminding me of my husband, who rode his bike all over the countryside here; it helped him come out of his shell as far as speaking the language because he was on his own.

The bike was actually my mother's bike - she wasn't using it any more, and gave it to us as a going-away present. (I think she secretly hoped I would finally learn to ride it - at 50???) He was enough of a character to laugh off riding a 'girl's bike' and it was a conversation starter for him.
