TBD on Ning

Do you ever think what kind of computer you are going to get next? I do. I want to have a super computer: I want to have several operating systems: Windows and Linux. And I want it to be super efficient. Most likely, I will create a network and have several of them hooked up. But then I think I am going a bit computer crazy: I am the only user in the house.

So, what is your computer fantasy?

Hey, Jerr, how you've been? I just reread my blog post and I cannot imagine how silly I was when I wrote it. I do not have computer fantasies anymore. I have a great computer instead. When I wrote that blog post in 2009, I had an old terrible very  small computer. Well, I have a couple of them now but only 2 hands, so I don't get to use both computers, lol. One just collects dust.

But now I want to get my hands on a Mac. I still haven't used one. But that would be a luxury and another dust collecting system if I buy it, which I probably will.

Anyway, it was good to hear from you. I showed up here just to answer your comment. Otherwise, I just show up on facebook every now and then, not very often actually. If you come to facebook, get in touch with me.

I did all that and more. Had 4 or 5 servers set up on my network, hosted my own web site etc etc. Then I thought about what I knew all along. That the only people that need a super computer are fanatic gamers and heavy duty accountants. I then thought about all the money and time I was wasting and scrapped the whole thing, farmed out my web site, bought a cheap notebook and here I am.  Actually two notebooks. I run Linux on the older one and unfortunately Microsoft on the newer one. I'm considering setting them both up for dual boot.

Actually its all true- - - -but- - - - I built the system with several operating systems including NT, Novell and Mac to use for troubleshooting when I was in the business. I was even hooked up to some company mainframes from time to time.  I would never have went through that expense and waste of time other wise.

Grab one for me, will ya. Yes, server. I feel I need a couple of units to keep them totally independent, but connected to each other.

OMG yes. I'm thinking maybe a server type box so I can get past the 4 gig memory limit and then virtualize, MS or VMWare, the operating systems and configurations I want to play with.

BRB gotta get that lottery ticket. LOL
