TBD on Ning

You could go crazy trying to figure it all out. I am now basically antisocial... I am slowly trying to rearrange my thought patterns to new ones not polluted by the daily sick things I see. I don't see people much anymore..I see a society of controlled zombies. People with no enlightenment...no moral compass. They think if they believe the words in their religious books they are saved when they buy their guns and try to make others look like devils....Crazy, absolutely crazy...

People dressing up in suits who look in the mirror and actually believe they are better than others because they have one. People who get in jets and helicopters who actually think they are going places other people can't go.The trick (and it really is not a trick), is to see beauty where ever you go. My Goodness...I hang out in Nature and see absolute beauty that makes my heart sing for joy every time I go there, and it cost me no more than gas money, and nothing if you ride a bike and get some exercise....I don't have to go thousands of miles away to put something wonderful in front of my eyes

WE live in a box of wrecked perceptions. When money and things become more important than the flesh of our brothers we are doomed. People think if their party wins they will have more riches, while the riches of the soul are vanishing.....Bottom line, It is all about winning and people don't care who they hurt......

I am not a pawn of the game.....My brain is NOT hooked up to your superhighway wavelink of untruth...I'm outta there. I'm not buying it.

Your right Phil....We are finished if we don't break out of the stronghold the rich & powerful have on us, and start using some individualized progressive thinking, we are doomed.

Society should be shunned. We should all live like orangutans -- solitary and self-sufficient.

Your right Phil......I am making changes as we speak.....The ditch diggers and toilot scrubbers of the world deserve more than fighting over 1/10 of a piece of pie while 9 pieces are being ate up by the 1% who do nothing more than move our money around. So many rave about capitalism, but what is Capitalism when it is not about FAIR trade? Isn't that what our money is supposed to be all about? Something called FAIR TRADE?

How many more are going to hit bottom before we make a change? I am with you Phil.......When we go to sleep at night we know we have done the right thing by saying...NO...I wont buy the BS any longer.

Truth arrives out of perception...all perception is different.....so is all truth. There is no solid truth out there except in the case of the individual and if we could learn that what we perceive as our own truth is not set in stone we can learn to change things quickly.

You are not getting my point. I am saying if one thing in history changed we could all be dead now or we could all be be living in communes, or we could still be owning slaves, we could still be burning witches at the stake, we could still be wearing ( I said buckskin) but lets use long dresses or mini skirts or whatever....History dictates our behavior, but it doesn't have to be that way...

I never said we should program ourselves to all be the same...That's impossible and totally crazy. On a individual basis if we could learn to change our thinking habits a little to understand that what we believe to be set in stone truth isn't necessarily set in stone truth, we could begin to move on...we could work miracles...we could feed all the hungry, we could all drop our weapons.

We start being programed from birth. Some children are taught from a young age it is important for them to make their own decisions. They are more agreeable to change and even welcome it. . Others are indoctrinated into very strict lifestyles...For those people change seems to be most difficult.

The mind is a great tool and we havnt even skimmed the surface of what it can do. The more we are able to change things around the better our lives will get because we don't sit in our poo and cry, stagnating to death. Are people afraid of mistakes? For crying out loud..if we make a mistake we can try something else..we can try and try and try again until we get it right...The trick ( and it's no real trick) is to start moving, changing, understanding some things will work and some wont, but to get up dust ourselves off and try again.

Funny the Indians seemed to get their work done dressed in very little

They also sat around and smoked peyote and didn't bathe very often. (They also started out defending Massachusetts and ended up losing California) Are you advocating that as well?

If you're out hunting game or farming, their attire was entirely appropriate. If you're making a formal presentation at a sales meeting, not so much.

Every society has its own mores and values. You may call it programming but your Indians had it the same as we do; the values were different but they were societal just the same. Nobody is putting a gun to your head and making you conform to them. But if you show up for a job interview in a G-string and hip-waders, don't complain when you can't find a job. Part of being hired, to continue the example, is an ability to meld into the corporate culture, to get along with your co-workers. Part of being popular (something I apparently seem to know little about) is the ability to fit in. People tend to feel more comfortable with things that they know. Right or wrong doesn't matter; it's called Human Nature,/i>.

If we could re program our minds, we could fix all the worlds problems.

An interesting, paradoxical remark. On the one hand, you complain about people all thinking/acting the same; in the next, you talk about reprogramming our brains so we could fix the world's problems. In other words, if we all thought the same, we could all agree on the solutions to problems.

You might wish to stick to a position.

First off, we can't even begint agree on what those problems are, let alone find a solution for them. I suspect if you ask a person in Biloxi, Mississippi what the ten most pressing world's problems are, then ask the same question of someone in Timbuktu, in Mali , you would get two very different answers. Who is right? Is anyone?

One of the ways that society makes progress is by people thinking "outside the box." If we're all re-programmed to think the same, so we can at least agree on what the problems are, who is lefty to think "outside the box?"

Nobody says that you can't be an individual and there is much to be said for it. I'm not unsympathetic to your position, here. I haven't watched the evening news for over a decade because, fankly, I find much of it moronic. But I also don't expect to participate in much of the social conversation at work because these folks do. It's the price I (gladly) pay but I dont complain about having paid it.

It's all programming...We have been programmed to believe that way. If one thing in history would have changed, we could all be wearing buckskin to our jobs (Thats just a example). Our minds are basically set and they cannot budge much in their thinking patterns.. I hear all those very same things you just said from oh so many people...samo samo. Funny the Indians seemed to get their work done dressed in very little....I also would do the same...dress nice for work, but I understand it is conditioning and not the truth..There is no real truth. If we could re program our minds, we could fix all the worlds problems.

I said the above and thought it over again......I got rid of Cable TV because the news I was watching was getting to me. That was right after the election was over. Now..It didn't do much good...well maybe a little, I don't lay in bed watching the late news any more, but I hear enough to know that what is going on in this country is no laughing matter. It is possible the craziest people of them all are the ones who say...Oh it's nothing and let the hate brew, like it is going to help their party win something if they don't try to stop the madness by speaking out...It is just sad and the truth is (As I see it) we all end up dust in the wind, so lets live together in peace...The crap they want to sell you just isn't worth it......Still me....still Anti Social by choice....And I'll see you all at the next love in naked.....

I would like to see all you guys go to work everyday (if you do work) in whatever you feel like wearing, wouldn't that be nice? Why cant it happen? I am sure most people feel the same way..Isn't it a waste of valuable time to spend so much time clothing ones-self?

There are actually some legitimate reasons.

First off, to follow your theorem, some people would come to work dressed like Paris Hilton. In variably, those people would probably be about 5 feet 2 and way about 350 pounds. This is not an imagwe you want to convey to anybody.

Secondly, actual scientific studies have shown that people behave differently when they are dressed up than they do when they are dresssed casually. (They are a lot more civil)

Third, there is a matter of the face you show to the world. If you walked into a law firm and all the lawyers were dressed in ripped shorts, sloppy T's, and sandals, wouldn't you be just a little put off? Is your expectation that they will take your case seriously going to be enhanced?

Lastly, I actually worked in a place that allowed folks to pretty much dress as they wished. frankly, it was not a pretty sight. We had one woman who wore tight-fitting t-shirts and shorts that were barely legal in forty seven states. Even though she had the body for it, it was very disconcerting (and not always in a good way).

It isn't necessary to spend a lot of money to dress professionally and doing so shows that you have a little pride in your appearance and that you are a professional. Dressing like a slob because you feel like is okay on your own home but I'm not sure it projects that you have a good opinion of yourself or your workplace.
