I lost a sister yesterday. While driving a familiar, but infrequent road, I saw a painted turtle in the roadway sunning himself on the roadbed. She was much too close to traffic and I was preparing to stop the car and carry her across the road, when I glanced in my rearview mirror. There were six cars and a truck behind me. Stopping on the one lane road would have required my blocking the road and inconveniencing everyone following me. I chose to keep driving and trust turtle wisdom and human…

Even before the huge Haitian earthquake, I was sadly surprised to discover just how reluctant some people are to show any amount of compassion to anyone outside their own family. It is as though they are in a life or death struggle in a time and area of scarcity. Most are not. This phenomenon is compounded by the level of mistrust people feel and subsequent failure for these people to find common ground and work toward common goals. For the… Continue

I am tired of being nicey nice and trying to fit in.....
guess it's not me. I don't think much of my words
except they are kind of like wasted energy...falling on deaf ears
really. My life is kind of like a illusion of my own
making..All the things I consider important are not really so
important...All in all I really KNOW nothing & feel stupid
trying to fit in and say things people expect when I really don't
feel that way.... I don't think much of…

Bullies, vipers, haters, tattlers, whiners, passive-aggressives, and many more. Why is it that some adults find it close to impossible to grow up? Now I'm all about maintaining your inner child, holding on to your sense of wonder, and retaining (and enhancing) your ability to play. That's not what I'm referring to here.
I'm talking about people calling each other names because they are online and no one can reach over and give them a good dope slap. I'm talking about people who, faced…

If it were you I love
I would say it every day
And I would be honest with my feelings
About what love means to me
And how I celebrate its’ coming
If it were you I love;
And if it were you
I would show you why
And I would tell a story
Of stirring implications
About the hours in days satisfied
If it were you I love;
From the first words
And minutes in time
Of which time stopped
And started again
And whispered the…

These days that statement doesn't just apply to those of us who have had relationship that didn't work out. Now all too often I've heard how us "Baby Bloomers" have had to start over with the loss of jobs that they had been in for several years, a life time. I am shocked and amazed how this type of starting over has not only been hurtful, like in a relationship, but also fearful. This kind of fear, of the unknown because of age, status, ecomomical forecast (or lack there of) comes harder to…

Just as an added thought, there IS a flip side to the Swimming Pool Theory of Life.
It also means you have to wash the sheets and towels first, because you KNOW if you just do the clothes, the sheets and towels will pile up forEVER.

Couple is in financial "turmoil" according to hubby. Can't afford a car or car repairs says same hubby. "I need to get a place that's closer to work so I can bike there...blah....blah....blah..." Um....hello...2 residences.....2 sets of utility bills, etc, etc etc, so on and so forth. So you drop the car, which doesn't have a note/lien on it, and incur new living expenses. Um....okay....I'm not a rocket scientist here, but you do the math.

As a truck driver I see all kinds of things and the one thing gets me PO'd. People who make a living by taking advantage of those who care for their fellow man.
I see these people all the time on the conners where truck stops ( trucker are some of the most caring people you'll come across) holding up signs stranded need gas- stranded hungry. Most of these people make a living do this. Example in Ca there is the same people with a gas can standing in front of their cars (van lately) stating…

We all get stuck in a rut from time to time,the same thing day in and day out,why?
Try something new, maybe something that you have always wanted to try, but never got around to do it. Heck one of the first things I plan on doing when I no longer have to drive is learn how to fly. Thats not all I want to take cooking classes dancing, singing ( I can not carry a tune but what the heck) I want to do some more traveling to places I've seen but have not got a chance to…
