The Trayvon Martin tragedy in Florida provides an object lesson in many of the posts I have made here over time. It is sadly illustrative of what so many generations of black men and their sons have had to deal with over the years. It also is illustrative of how different peoples are valued by police authorities, particularly when they are minorities in a community. Imagine what the police would have done in this case were the races of the two people involved here were reversed.
If you can't "get it" after following this case, you never will. Happily, many people of all races, ages, and religions have come forward to express their support for Trayvon's family.
My heart goes out to Trayvon's family. The world will be watching very closely to see if the land of the free and home of the brave can bring itself to find justice for this young man. We shall see.
So sad. So wroong..
