Went and saw The Martian today in Xtra HD & 3D, it was excellent. Has anybody else seen it yet? (The author of the book says he's writing another SF novel, tentatively titled Zhek or something like that; looking forward to reading it.)
The movie is a new release to theaters. We went on the first day. I guess the books have been around for years--a Newberry Award winner in the early 90's, but I hadn't read it. The movie was not well-reviewed. Maybe because it was too quiet? ;)
I spent last weekend watching old VHS tapes with my grandson and a visiting student from Japan. We also watched "The Giver" the weekend before with grandson and another friend of his. All of these were more thoughtful than noisy and I think the boys were rather relieved. I know I was. They liked "Aladdin" best. I am grateful for my outtdated stash of tapes. I know, I'm old. But my 12-year-old boys like 'em too. They even like my favorite: "Matilda".
Hate it? Becuz it's not a beat-em-up-shoot-em-up-blow-em-up? I know what you mean: that seems to be what most people want in a movie these days unfortunately, sigh.
havent seen it. if u have, did u like it?
I know but apparently some people think doing anything about them is, unfortunately. Around here, all I seem to hear when you try to talk about solving any problem is "oh, well, if it's god's will, it'll happen, if it's meant to be, it'll be." Bah humbug!
Asteroids and comets are not science fiction. :-)
