Was it in the old TWG that Bmichael started a thread about spam?  I couldn't seem to find anything here.

Anyway, the subject heading of one of my spams: Bobbie jo Kazi 

I am intrigued (but not intrigued enough to open it) because it is such a specific, unusual name.  Does the spammer think that someone will actually know someone with that name and open the email?

Are you referring to those Nigerian money scams, sex sites, etc? That was in Tier II. I don't get many of those anymore.

Bobbie is probably phishing, just like the Nigerians - if you send enough out, eventually you'll get a bite.

I knew a guy ... another writer ... who got one of the Nigerian pitches and actually strung the guy along for months, then published the email string for the amusement of his friends. Mr. Nigeria was NOT happy!

 

I just got something today with a string of numbers as the name and (no subject) in the subject line. Buh-bye Mr. Spam.....

He left out some required information. How can you handle his 17mill before he knows your SSN and your bank account #?  Maybe you should offer these details right away.

Do you ever get calls from: "out of area/number unavailable"? Iget these quite frequently. Never any message.

Why yes, Westerly...I  used to receive those types of calls occasionally...but my friend, Mr. Number, is on the job - providing me with telephonic safety, comfort, and peace of mind - 24 hours a day!

Mr. Number can be programmed to do exactly what you want. (Shouldn’t everybody be like Mr. Number???)

For example, I have asked Mr. Number to block and hang up on ALL calls/texts except those from Liquor World, Conchita, and of course, you.
