"Rebooting Carl Sagan's seminal "Cosmos" miniseries three decades later is almost impossible — unless you happen to be renowned astrophysicist and science educator Neil deGrasse Tyson...Tyson is hosting a new version of the TV series called "Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey," with the first episode airing in March on Fox and the National Geographic Channel."

That's quite all right; maybe you'll like this one better. :-)
Thanks for the heads up on this I will be looking for it on my TV schedule now. I never watched the original series, partly because I was never in the Carl Sagan cult and partly because, in my arrogance, I thought I already knew it all; Science 101. For me the subject matter was fascinating enough in its own right and didn't need the Hollywood make-over to get my attention. In any event, I have to acknowledge that there is, today, an "intense antagonism to science" and a need to help people share the allure of the cosmos.
Ditto on thanks for the heads up, it should be good. The technology of the 60's and 40 years of observation has resulted in fantastic analysis and results in the last decade.
Rebooting "Cosmos" does actually make sense. 34 years has passed and we have learned so much more since it first aired.
I still have my Cosmos book and it is also out dated now.
However, why are they doing it on Fox? I don't think Fox will do it justice. PBS would have been much better for this reboot.
Maybe Fox thinks they can do the Cosmos justice in 6 days?
yeah i'm wondering too why it's on fox but its supposedly going to also be on the natl geog channel so we'll see.
Reminder. The new Cosmos series starts tomorrow night. Fox is so committed to this project that they are putting it on all of their cable stations at the same time. That includes at least 2 dedicated sports channels. I can just see somebody tuning in for their hockey fix (or something) and saying "What the Hell is this?"
MUCH has changed.
I am also wondering how it got on Fox. Just hope this ain't the creationist version. Like someone said, six days and done.
I was amused to see Fox run an ad for the Noah movie right in the middle of the last episode, the one on evolution.
In addition to Fox, here it's also gonna be on 2 diff. Nat'l. Geog. channels and on FX.
Fox is the only one that has HD ... which for this series is spectacular.
