A great film, but flawed. According to the IMDb, there is a remake in the works. (in "pre-production" ) To be directed by Stephen Sommers ( The Mummy, 1999 )
Normally I don't care for remakes of classic movies, but I will make an exception for this one.
It would be great, if the movie would include part of the 1934 sequel "After Worlds Collide" by Edwin Balmer and Philip Wylie.

I doubt it. This movie is still in pre-production. No release date has been set. My best guess, would be to look for it to be released around 2015 or 2016. The "doomsday fest" should be over by then. :-)
OK, You asked for it.
I don't plan on being around for this. Good luck to you. :-)
As it grows the Sun's gravity will weaken which may cause the Earth to move out ward and stay cool. Humans will have been dead for about a billion years, but the cat civilization may be able to hold on.
No, I don't think we human will destroy the Earth. Instead, we will have long moved off the Earth and populated the rest of the galaxy. Hopefully by then, we will have matured and changed our self destructive ways.
One can only hope.
Go for it! The world will end in three weeks (source: Mesoamerican Long Count Calendar). You should go for all the gusto you can get.
Would you mind passing a little of that gusto my way?
"After Worlds Collide", I have a copy of this, it's a pretty good book.
Because of it's size even in a remake the ARK would have to be launched on a rail, or use atom bombs for fuel. Early 60's space ship design used controlled a-bomb blast to move through space. A scale test model using gun powder could lift off of the ground.
JFK killed the design, after being shown the plans for a battle ship version.
I lost my copy of "After Worlds Collide" many years ago. I read it in the seventies. It is a good read. I recommend it, if you like classic Sci-Fi.
Speaking of classic sci-fi, thinking of getting Shelley's Frankenstein. Believe or not, I have never read this book.
Most people don't consider it as science fiction, but I do. I guess I'm a little bit different. :-)
