Ramblers' Realm

A warm welcome to Ramblers' Realm, --a place that dares you to open the windows of your mind --a place for self expression and rambling thoughts --a forum for fertilizing thoughts as well as friendships --your watering hole in cyberspace.

Members: 37
Latest Activity: Mar 1, 2013

I created this group with an intent to make it a safe and welcoming
place in cyberspace where we can free our minds or simply unwind.
Our members are thoughtful individuals from different states,
backgrounds, and walks of life, who are looking for a meaningful
way to communicate/converse in an informal, rambling environment.

Note: Please try your utmost to adhere to the community guidelines. I realize that
it could be hard at times as it is human nature to be fractious. I would appreciate sincerely your cooperation.

Ah, fill the cup: What boots it to repeat How time is slipping underneath our feet: Unborn To-morrow, and dead Yesterday,
Why fret about them if To-day be sweet!

Here's a perfect example of rambling....
I think the topic was about group dynamics and this member decided to throw his poem in as an aside:

Hello!...

I have learned, like a sailor on a ship
going through a reef passage, to sound
the depth and nuance of your every hello,
for i have no other way to know you
otherwise, no other recourse to seeing
how you might be coping with your life.
Of course, there must better ways
for measuring concern, or to show it,
but some things; like the effect
of civilization on a wild heart, like a
sudden storm ruining the seamless joining
of ship and sea, the quality of one hello...
some things need the relentless passing of
time to show them the unfolding course,
and whether there is still a moment left
to look forward to,perhaps; another sunrise,
the wanton splash of a wavetip against
the salt of my cheeks, the bite of a cold
morning seeping through my flesh into bone,
the freedom of the open sea unfolding
like one more smile, like one drenching hello.

so, hello, and well met; ship and sea,
sailor and night, anticipation and the exact
nuance of a meeting, the realization of one
segment of a disjointed dream floating
like a wisp, a mist off a briny sea, the merging
of twilight to darkness and into dawn,
all the unspoken words sandwiched between
friends and lovers and distance...
the disappointment of a larger, empty space
still unfilled and unfulfilled, the wanting
that will never end, the reaching out
of human hands and souls for a heaven;
a state of mind that will ever be imperfect,
the perfect nuance and cadence of a hello
embodying a missed warmth, an understanding
that no one else had ever shown before,
and perhaps never will...

hello...hello...hello...are you...home?

Now, this is eloquence in its purest form.

Yes, I fear this group is not for me, for all my thoughts are to the point. Tim Elston

LoL Tim....you need to "kick off your shoes and let down your hair." Many of members in the original site were as succinct and eloquent as you. The name was chosen by them to connote an informal rather than highly structured and moderated environment which allowed for the meandering of thoughts. I guess a more appropriate name would be Springboard's Realm, but that doesn't sound right to me and I have many, many fond memories of Ramblers Realm which was home in the emails for me for many years.

So that's a rambler, eh? I may not be appropriate for this group, then, because I knew a man in my youth who had a cow whose coat was as white as the paint on my grandmother's picket fence that eventually collapsed, but not before the yard had turned brown due to the drought that year, which was also the year I caught my first fish, of which I was so proud even after my dad told me that it was a sucker, quite a bit lower in esteem than the carp, of which I caught many thereafter, populous in the Columbia River, near the McNary Dam on which I experienced vertigo much like I did while gazing down from the Sears Tower, even with a rail to hold onto. Yes, I fear this group is not for me, for all my thoughts are to the point.

an old post from a close friend of mine, a rambler:

Subj: Diary of a Rambling Rose
Date: 1/7/02

Dear Diary,

Today is Monday, January 7th in the holy year of 2002.
Today is the day I begin my journey, my quest for inner
peace and salvation. Today I will seek answers to questions
I've silently asked myself and lately have found myself no
longer wanting to know. Have I become complacent? Have I
stopped dreaming? seeking?

My inner realm is chaotic. If life were a garden, I would
be full of tumble weeds, overgrown ivy....dandelions and
sunflowers amuck, wild roses sprawled upon a stone wall....
verbena, rosemary and bleeding hearts overruneth..... the
Moon flowers tangled within the wisteria......the wisteria
rapidly growing over its support and meshing with the sweet
madagascar vines..... sweet honeysuckle twisting through this
chaos and the irises, lisanthius, violets and tea roses seek
the sunlight. That sunlight that warms their souls. Always
that sunlight.

No definition - no boundaries. Where does one line begin and
the other start? Where does one begin and another end?
I hate this!

I am determined to find it. To feel it. To touch it.
I am going to find it.

Blasted soul..... has it always been this way?
When I close my eyes, I can't remember when things shifted
.....twisted. Turned.

Oh that sunlight.... Sunlight. Like the tangled roses
in my garden.... hidden under the canopy of darkness
.....can she trust the warmth and grow towards the light?

Liza
