TBD on Ning

How will you celebrate?

I think I'll take the day off.

Oh, wait, I don't have a job.

Does that mean, that if I take the day off, I have to work?

Maybe I'll head down to the donut shop and see what the liberals have to say about it.

Hello Olivia! That works for me.
I think its more of an English celebration, what with them having Stonehenge and all.
What, no Ruby Slippers? Since I'm close to the Eleanor Roosevelt Library maybe I'll go there and see if the collection of her modeling her summer swim wear circa 1942 is on display.
Eleanor, take it all off!!!

Do you mean this one?

Oh yeah, that was gonna be my second guess.
Hello DD! When I go to town for coffee I time it to join the liberals....the conservatives meet at the donut shop earlier. I enjoy conversing with the liberals....they bring a wide range of topics to discuss. Generally speaking, although I tend to be a little right of center politically, I'm quite tolerant of others' views. Our local conservatives tend to be older, richer, more focussed on economics and probably less in tune to discussing the summer solstice than the liberals, who tend to come from backgrounds in education.

So, politics has little or nothing to do with it, the liberals are just who I prefer to hang with over coffee.
Hi Suzan! Well, the solstice turned out to be a non-issue at the donut shop, There wasn't any interest in discussing it when I brought it up. It was quite crowded in there today, what with all the summer people here now. Conversation was tough was tough due to all the unrelated babble going on! A couple of the conservatives showed up too, but they're good guys, and fit in quite well. Those two guys like to kid me about the length of my hair. LOL!

Monster hug back atcha! Stir
The Solstices are two of my favorite holidays, right after Christmas and the day we go the State Fair.

Today I'll be celebrating by taking my mom and her friend to our local casino for free pull tabs. We'll probably have lunch at MacDonald's and then my mom has something for me to fix at her house. She hasn't told me what needs fixing - she wants it to be a surprise.

Although the Solstice is important to me, also, for its significance in the Natural World, I didn't exactly take the day off work. I'm one of those lucky people who only work during the academic school year. (Three reasons I love my job --> June, July and August.)
I didn't take the day off either. I'm sitting in a COE campground neer Atlanta, GA waiting for the Workhorse Chassis people to call me back and tell me what to do about my brake problem.
Good luck, Robbie.

In France, the solstice is celebrated with music - La Fête de la Musique - everywhere. Every town (even our little village) has bands and barbecues and giant omelets and dancing and you name it, usually on the Saturday closest to the date, though in the larger towns there are concerts on the day as well.

Happy summer to everyone!
School day for me. I'll celebrate by shoving as much stuff into my brain as I can handle today. That's my idea of a good time. I'll probably stare at the stars and drink a glass of wine when I get home, and at Suz's suggestion, spend some time in appreciation of all of the good in my life. <3
