Since I work the entire day with my eyes glued to a monitor and my right hand hovering over a mouse, I was wondering about the next generations.
Will they be taught to use a pencil and paper?   Will they have to learn 'script' in 4th grade?  Will they learn the feeling of a good pen floating across a piece of paper and seeing the art that writing can be?  Where will the artists of the future come from....Will thumbs no longer be needed?   Will crayola go out of business?
I love to doodle...I rarely get the chance anymore.

Pencil and paper are already fading away. No one writes letters anymore, well almost no one, every one uses a keyboard to send e-mails and to text. It's terrible to see the art of writing go away. Books and newspapers are on their way out as well. A world without those items will not be the same....progress??? not necessarily.

My 16 year old nephew did not learn cursive writing in public school. One day I left him a note. When I got home, he said, "I couldn't read your note. You wrote it in cursive." So we taught him.
I also had to teach him how to tell time on a round clock face.

Pardon me, but that is rediculous. What are they teaching kids now???

I write. I doodle. I love how pen or pencil feels in my hand and how it feels on paper, but I do believe we are becoming extinct :(
I think school aged children still take handwritten notes?

Or they dictate into a hand held device of some sort... writing would require too much effort.
