Julie, WNAP-FM in Indy used to play "Sara Cynthia Sylvia Stout" a lot - I also recall seeing Shel Silverstein on one of the weekend late-night rock concert shows (Midnight Special or Don Kirshner) doing a rendition of the song.

I'm going to post this here because who better to appreciate it?

I am just about through

and I cannot recommend it strongly enough. (For all you Beatles fans, I am over 90% through it and I have yet to see a sign of the apocolypse). This is a history of popular music going back as far as 1900 and moving to the 70's (and beyond). But it is not the history that you mjight expect - this is music history from "the other end' of it and is really fascinating. No matter how much you thought you knew, you'll still find plenty that you didn't.

There is also plenty of material that will make you think and you may find yourself changing your mind about a few things. I know I did.

As I said, if you are a popular music-lover 9and most of us are, or were0, this is an absolute "must read." If you enjoy it only half as much as I, you'll love it!

While looking for a Jewish humor video I came across this "song" that I first heard on WLS (Chicago) years ago:

The writer is also known for penning A Boy Named Sue, The Unicorn, Sylvia's Mother, among others, and for this bit of adult humor:

Thanks, Leslie! Cleveland tv legend Ghoulardi used to send up "Who Stole the Kishka" on his late-night shows, so I went out in search of the song on YouTube - and ran across this. Pretty inspired stuff (and as low-budget as Ghoulardi's shows used to be.)

Jake,

this was absolutely hysterical....I am Jewish and I have never heard this before....I'm laughing so hard I think I'm going to pee myself.

Kat ~ this is a great group. may I suggest that you set your discussion to "20" so that we can see at a glance what discussions we want to join in with? People not in the know swinging by may assume you only have three discussions on the go, when in fact, the place is hopping! From one group creator to another, just a bit of helpful advice to help you keep your membership going.
Cheers!
Here is a good help link for group creators.

Yeah Jake, looked like all the vids that were embedded just disappeared. I clicked around to other places that had vids as well and they were gone too. Thought maybe The McGuire Sisters were pissed I got their tune LOL!!

Just joined this cool group. If you are a laid back person or have a laid back mood periodically, Go to my page and listen to some chris botti; keiko matsui and jack johnson. If you chose to continue to other venues, just minimize mine and open a new window. You can still hear some cool music. thanks... Sam...
