TBD

TBD on Ning

Those of you who've wandered over from TBD1 may recall a thread that ran to almost 40 pages of favourite little-known bands. Jake and Ubu were instrumental in building that thread, but were by no means the only participants; Chez Moi, Dazzling DIana and Snagg were frequent contributors as well, and literally dozens of people popped in with suggestions.

Gone is gone, and it's time to start again. So, ladies and gentlemen, let's have 'em: you're favourite little-known bands. And any information--websites, youtube links, etc--that you can provide are most welcome.

Big thanks,
Suuse

Hey, Suuse! I'm glad to see the thread revived - and a great way to start - waaay too funny! (And I'll keep that song in mind the next time I'm tempted to poke an ex:)
She's great - thanks for the introduction, Suuse! (Referring to Kate Miller-Heidke - don't know why this post ended up here).
I posted this on the main page but thought I'd re-post it here. I just got back from Nashville, where I heard the following song from local singer Tristen on the radio - very captivating performance, nice cello. The YouTube live video doesn't have the best sound quality, so I also included her MySpace site, which has the studio version.

Eager for Your Love -Tristen

Another local Nashville band, the Turbo Fruits - the song I heard on the radio, "Mama's Mad 'Cause I Fried My Brain," is the first one on their MySpace playlist.

And they also played the Raveonettes - not local to Nashville (they're Danish), but a sultry snaky little song.

...and Rob's Much Music hit, "Breaking Even" with animation by Cal Brunker: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGzRP9E0f3s&feature=related
Here we go again, eh?
I'll rehash a couple of them. Lest ye forget. And I wouldn't want that to happen. I see Szabo has already reappeared. ;-)

The one I consider a truly underground band since they weren't allowed to play in their own country but did.

Hi Suuse and Group Members,

Has anyhone heard of the Back Door Slam? TBD members that were/or are pop followers will like the lead guitarist, quite talented and a voice well beyond his age:

I undertand the band recently disbanded in early '09 and reformed with different members and are now getting ready to tour with Satriani and others from the recently formed Chickenfoot:

Chickenfoot with Michael Anthony (bass), Sammy Hagar (vocals),
Joe Satriani (guitar), Chad Smith (drums).

My son has mentioned both Chickenfoot and Back Door Slam but I didn't get around to listening - guess I should have. The lead guitarist and vocalist for Back Door Slam sounds a lot like a younger Clapton. Real talent there!
Hi Suuse! Lovely! I was bemoaning the fact that I did not find time to make note of certain musicians before TBD1 shut down. Your thread was a favourite, and I for one would not mind repetition. This time I'll take notes! Thks. much for starting this discussion. Just an F.Y.I. ~ if memory serves I read somewhere that Robin disconnected the video component of TBD2 due bandwidth problems, something about being charged for same or some such. I will ask George. But it seems that posting URL links is not a problem.

My offering today is a well know and appreciated local alt-country group from Raleigh, N.C. - Tres Chicas !

I'm a fan! :-D
Me, too! (fan of Tres Chicas!)
