Coming home from upstate New York heading South years ago, I was driving with my wife and teen-age daughter. I noticed a peculiar sign near Lake George reading Lake George VII. I figured it was named after King George the 7th and asked my wife and daughter if they ever heard of him. My daughter unplugged the music she was listening to for a moment and was sharp enough to realize I had misread the sign."Daddy, the sign read Lake George VIL", she said..the abbreviation for village.
Anyway, we stopped at some restaurant in the Lake George area to use their facilities and a quick bite. I had a New York style hot dog and was puzzled why the sign in the restaurant read "New York Style". We were in New York. Anyway,I sat at a table with my wife and daughter while we ate and listening to a young woman at another table talking about fortune telling and tarot cars. I decided to comment about what this woman was speaking about and said the tarot card readings were nonsense. She responded to me and said that you don't pronounce the "T". So I said, "oh, so you pronounce them "AROT cards". My daughter left the table as if she didn't know me.
