The Worlds Top Digital Thinkers
Are in Burlington to Meet You!

Or so says the ad on page 5A of the Burlington Free Press today. Yeah-ya.

"EPIK ONE DIGITAL INSIGHTS - inspiration from industry thought leaders . . ."

Oboy. It's set for Friday the 14th at the Main Street Landing's Performance Art Center; 60 Lake Street. $99 to get in, but they tell you to use or mention code: freepressfriday and it isn't clear, but probably if you don't the price will be $149 or more to get in.

Use the code. Yeah-ya. These guys aren't thought leaders, but they are wannabe's. High end wannabe's at that.

Beyond the use of code words with ambiguous applications, note also the first of four listed experts:

Avinash Kaushik - Perhaps the world's top expert in web analytics and author of the best-selling book Web Analytics An Hour A Day will speak about Milti-channel Analytics challenges and how Google works to track marketing across all media. Kaushik is Google's Anaylitics [sic] Evangelist.

Well, of course. He's an analytics evangelist - generally you can't sell behavioral advertising to lefties, and this guy is Indian. They want to be sure to appeal to their target audience, repelicans, and to do that they have to speak in their language. Yeah-ya. And then they tell ya why they wrap him in that cloth with the misspelling of anaylitics . . ., I mean, the misspelling looks as if it sounds Indian, doesn't it?

I'm tempted to park outside with a big sign condemning behavioral advertising and data mining that facilitates it, but I don't think people would get it.

Then of course, they have one Daniel Shutsmith, a vp at Core Industries who they claim launched some green campaign on Nelson Mandela Day. Prove it I say. I mean, hey. Anyone can wear a green t-shirt can't they? Yeah-ya, Of course they can. It's called deniability . . .
